It says PPC/Intel, but I can't get it to run on PPC. On the developer's site, it says 10.6 only, which means it does not seem to run on PPC.

What the hell does it mean to "convert your AVCHD movie clips into a Mac-friendly format"? Is it too hard for you to be more specific about what types of file formats it works WITH and what it can convert them INTO, and whether it REMUXES them or TRANSCODES them, for crap's sake?

I'm getting really sick of halfassed developers writing halfassed descriptions.

Does not work with video from my SONY DCR-SR68...It tells me that my video has a non-standard resolution, and directs me to the settings advanced tab. There does not seem to be anything there which can help.

The video does play, but jittery. Could an option be added to show the time/date code while playing?

MPEG Streamclip plays the video, and can convert it.

In my opinion, this user ("mts converter") should be removed from MU. His Web-site is the same as he advertised above.

For me this app is the only way to convert the AVCHD-format of my Canon HF100 in HD to an editable format. Still I don´t have an Intel Mac and will stay on my machine with power pc processor.

After testing it I decided to buy the app and now its simply a part of my workflow for high resolution editing. Even when I moved from my old G4 to a more recent G5 PPC the developers answered my questions very fast just in time. Its the way I like it - small but god money for simply working software. Without that app I could simply forget using my Camcorder with OS X. Thanx a lot for that, thumbs up

FCE can only import SOME avchd. For instance, I've been trying since last fall to get it to import AVCHD from my brand spanking new Panasonic HDC SD100. It can't. Period. Final Cut Pro 6.05 can and iMovie '08 can (though I'm having audio sync problems with the iMovie and it converts 24p to 29.97 when it imports).
Anyway, I hope Apple updates FCE soon, but until then Voltaic is your best bet. MPEG Streamclip won't import mts files either, by the way.

And not all versions of AVCHD - my Panasonic sd100 could only be converted in Final Cut Pro

Correction - I mean it could only be "captured" in Final Cut Pro
