AutoPairs modifies the behavior of certain keystrokes, to help you keep paired characters such as parentheses properly matched. For instance, when you type a left parenthesis, AutoPairs will type the right parenthesis and a left arrow for you, so that you are ready to type what goes between the parentheses. This and other pair macros can be turned on and off individually, and configured differently for specific applications.

AutoPairs is a system preference pane, as well as a background application. It will not be visible in your Dock.

Running OS X 10.6.8.

I can't date its onset (Safari 5, perhaps), but for quite a while I had a recurring issue in which AutoPairs simply stopped working and I had to restart to regain its functionality.

After much frustration I realized that quitting Safari was the key to overcoming the issue.

Anybody else experiencing the same symptoms?

I have been using this program for years. Never had a serious issue. Highly recommended. Great app.

Keeps crashing Sys Prefs on 10.6.8. Had to uninstall. Shame. Worked a treat otherwise.

Same here, but it worked just fine for a week or two before that began happening.

I dunno... v 3.0 worked just fine for a few years and all of a sudden just stopped working, and v 3.1 is worse.

Booo!

Seems like a nice free app. However, it would be nice to be able to disable/enable the app as you please instead of autopairs always running or resorting to uninstalling...

I haven't got a clue about why or what to do about it, but AutoPairs X has all of a sudden begun quitting for absolutely no discernible reason (OS X 10.6.8), and I've got to either log out/in or restart to get it working again.

I'm posting here because the developer has not seen fit to provide an e-mail address for feedback, etc.

Edit: I don't mean "quits" literally; it's running, but it doesn't work.

it seems to work nice when using english as an input language. but if you switch to a language, which has additional letters assigned to keys {} [] etc, this program makes unwanted letters when typing. so maybe the utility should consider switching and use another keys for making correct pairs in other languages
