SyncFF overview

SyncFF is a drop utility app and service for setting the modification and creation date of folders to the most recent modification date of their contained files (and, optionally, folders.) This way the modification date of the folder matches the modification date of the "youngest" file (or, optionally, folder) it contains. The process is recursive, so all subfolders are processed.

SyncFF is part of the Limit Point Software Utilities bundle. See http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities.html for more information and a list of currently available software. A single donation activates all utility programs, and all upgrades are free and new products are included.

This has been a welcome find for me, replacing a Classic application I thought I would never be able to. Having a workflow where I am saving multiple copies of the same folder, but want to distinguish them by when files where actually changed in them, this saves me a lot of time searching for the last changed date. My only wish is for at least a preference to treat packages as files so I could see the last modified file date of a package.

This terminal command "find . -exec touch -f {} \;" can do exactly the same task. This command can also be wrapped with Automator to create system service, and provide exactly the same function as SyncFF. Update file modification time is somewhat useful for programmer or system administration. They can force system to rebuild the code, refresh cache, etc. But those who need this feature won't use such a GUI wrapper for the find command.

What is the purpose of this utility? I don't see the problem it is designed to solve, but understand there must be one! [my star rating is meaningless, I have not used this]
