I paid for and installed CosmoPod in May 2009 and it worked for a few months. I upgraded to SL in September and CosmoPod would not work with standard 64-bit Safari. Now this guy wants more cash for a program that should have been SL compatible when I bought it 4 months before.. I don't know what agenda he is running here but unless he gets his pricing sorted out, reviews like this are gonna finish his development on the Mac platform! This guy will not be getting any more cash from me until he can prove that he's not gonna bill me every 4 months to get his software to work! CosmoPod is getting removed from my Mac as of NOW!

No developer response since July 21, 2011. This is clearly broken abandonware.

The developer has abandoned their paying customers. They could have, at least, contact registered owners and said, "Sorry suckers, but we're done with you - adios!" They have not updated their product in a long. long time. It is so out of date that it is a joke. No customer support - no response to emails. Nothing has changed on their web site in a year or more. Try Wondershare's "AllMyTube" is a great product and they provide excellent customer support. It does everything and more than CosmoPod did.

So, it would seem this has definitely been abandoned now. It hasn't worked in over a year and the developer in incommunicado. I just hope they are okay. As far as a replacement for this goes, I have tried several. iTubeX is good, but it does have to boot another app, so it's not the most streamlined option. For Safari users, I would HIGHLY recommend the Youtube5 Safari extension: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/35606/youtube5-safari-extension It basically converts all video content (such as Youtube videos, which run with Flash) into HTML5 content. It does so instantly and automatically, and results in faster loading videos and less CPU usage in playing them. It's fantastic. What's more, you can easily download the videos by clicking on the [i] in the top right corner of a video, where it shows you a list of sizes and formats the video is available in. Just right click on your preferred size/format and choose "Download Linked File". It's so elegant. Just a 21k file. A little Safari extension. No mess, no extra apps, not even a button to clutter up your tool bar. What's more, it's free!

No contact or word from Cocoamug Software in over a year. What's up with them? Use to love their products. No excuse for no contact of any kind.

The last contact i received from Cocoamug was on July 21, 2011 ... "Dear CosmoPod registered user, Thank you for writing. With the release of Safari 5.1, you have encountered an incompatibility problem between CosmoPod and Safari. I have been working hard on a fix for this and will provide a free upgrade version of CosmoPod in the next few days ... " That "next few days" since July 21, 2011 has been a long time. I've since switched to Videobox.

After 6+ months of no compatibility and no progress, I have officially downgraded Cocoamug software AND the Cosmopod app. Both are now on my: Do Not Buy List Now looking for a permanent replacement.

I miss my Cosmopod in a big way, sadly they don't answer my emails. So either the developer is dead or had a personal meltdown of sorts...

I was in the same boat and luckily came upon iTubeX. It is much more capable than CosmoPod and has none of the annoyances. Downloads videos from places CosmoPod could not. Lets me select from a list of resolutions, extract audio etc. I'll never look back.

I agree with Gary. It sucked that Cosmopod was abandoned, but I just bought iTubeX today after a trial. It rocks.

This app destroyed my Safari browser. It somehow deleted my entire Toolbar, so I can't even hit Command-L to open web sites anymore. I followed the developer's uninstall instructions, but even then my Safari Toolbar did not come back. Beware this software -- it will actually harm your computer! The developers are extremely irresponsible to even be distributing it in its current state.

From the Developer's website: Important note about CosmoPod and Safari 5.1 The current version of CosmoPod is not compatible with the latest Safari 5.1. We are working on a fix and we will provide a free upgrade when it's ready. Thanks for your patience. To uninstall CosmoPod, you can delete the following folder (quit Safari first) : /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CosmoPod.bundle.

It's not as simple as that. Cosmopod completely deletes your Safari Toolbar!!! Even if you follow these uninstall instructions, your Toolbar does not come back. This software is dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. It will destroy your Safari web browser.

@Arobulack, you give no specifics of what OS or Safari versions you are using. But, more important you need to take this up directly with the developer. I simply posted what I found at their website. Be cognizant that talks are continuing in the Apple Support Community forums that users' are incorrectly blaming specific software--be it third-party or Apple's--for issues, when in reality there might many factors at play causing said issues and not just one.

CocoaMug Software has cut it's throat! I encourage all of you who have paid for this (formerly) great Safari Add-on to spread the news to EVERYONE you possibly can to steer clear of any offering form CocoaMug. For them to completely ignore their paying customers is untenable. Therefore they should only reap what they themselves have sown!

It's time for a CosmoPod eulogy. A volunteer please or maybe it's not even worth it. Simple we've been had & we're not even given an excuse or a sorry reply, let's get over it people, life goes on. But still spread the word.
