Followed the instructions on the Dev's site, and still cannot get it to work. I am running Mavericks. Could that be the issue? I left-click hold the file or folder I want to delete and press F4 to bring up the Dashboard and drag the item onto the Shredder for, hopefully, deletion, and... nothing happens.
Can anyone kindly share some insight. Much appreciated.

This is so fun! I want to delete files just to watch it shred and make that sound. Sure it takes longer than emptying the trash, but don't we all need a 1 minute break now & then?

This widget has been exactly what I was looking for. It has always bugged me that you can't delete a single item out of the Trash can without emptying the whole thing or using Terminal. This has been a nice alternative to keep my computer clean. That, and it looks really nice. One complaint, it seems to be trying to run away. Every time I restart my computer or just the Dashboard, its location jumps up a few inches.

  • Medium: Secure erase. This mode overwrites your shredded documents with a US Department of Defence compliant 7 pass procedure.
  • High: Virtual Paper Pulp. Use this setting for only the most sensitive files. Though it might be slow, the 35 pass Gutmann algorithm will ensure that no data from these files is ever recovered.
