MU - offering a discount on an application that has not been upgraded since 20-Dec-2007 makes little sense. Comments / reviews show it has not worked reliably on Snow Leopard and does not work on Lion. Who would want to buy it even discounted.

This is an easy to use program with more features than the tools built into OSX and its command line. If you want a quick and easy way to verify an email or a website as to its validity this is one of the better tools to use as it requires no learning curve. The map is good looking but with the limited zoom capability is really just eye candy and of very limited use. For the current limited time price of $14.95 it is a bargain compared to other programs that do the same thing and at its regular price competes well with other programs. Easy to use for a novice and powerful enough for a pro.

I easily analyzed a number of routes and targets using Path Analyzer Pro. A large amount of information was presented in easily-used form. There are other ways to compile this data, but Path Analyzer Pro is by far the easiest, fastest method I've used. It will make by life easier. This program is so good, I hope it's incorporated into the Mac OS. It shows how small software developers can be the most innovative.

I just tested Path Analyzer Pro against several targets. This is the kind of facility that should be built in to OS X, but isn't. In fact it would be embarrassing to compare it to Network Utility (the "utility" that is more confusing than using a terminal command line.) PAPro partitions a slew of details into understandable chunks. My only wish is that the map would auto-zoom onto the displayed route.

I looked at this product some time ago and felt it could be extreemly useful. Yes, you can do quite a number of the things this app can do via other means but not as easily. The graphical interface and simple GUI make interogation and understanding of the data easy.

Not sure that a good database of every IP address's true location exist for the sequence of hops in a traceroute, but it might have good estimates. I have seen such programs map local USA routes to include outlying single IPs as far away as Australia which didn't seem reasonable, but as long as you can correct the IP-location database it might be helpful.

There is nothing evil about a technical tool. Plus this tool is not only usefull for network workers like myself, but could eventually help diagnose failure points for home users regarding connection to specific gaming servers (MMORPGs anyone?) or deciding whether to call your ISP for help or check your home network first.

The Vostrom web site says Path Analyzer Pro's normal price is $29.95, not $39.95. Is this MacUpdate Promo really the "Premier" version, which is list as$39.95 at the Vostrom web site? If so, I'll probably buy it as it appears to be a pretty nice product and I've had good luck with MacUpdate Promos in the past.

I just finished a trial of this recently and was reluctant to pay the full price for something I only use occasionally. What luck! It's a real bargain. And I'm not a tech specialist -- it helps me track whether it's my ISP, my webhost or my own computer when my website seems bogged down. Very handy.

Path Analyzer Pro has the capabilities to be an excellent tool for everyone, from network administrator to even the most advanced security engineer. It gives very fast access to a tremendous amount of information on the IP's that are being traced. The ability to export reports and charts is very good, much needed feature.

This applications provides a smart graphical interface to some fairly boring textual information - but that's about it. The novice user will find it interesting but expensive for what it is, and the expert user will likely use terminal commands to secure exactly the same information which they, as an expert, are able to quickly comprehend. Sorry, but it's not one for the masses.

The reports are nicely presented, better than a standard traceroute. It seems to do a better job of handling or at least reporting deadends (when firewalls etc prevent such inquiries). I like the graphing feature and especially the geocoding display. Even so, the interface could use some polish. I can't help but think there must be better software out there for this job. However, it would certainly cost much more. I'm thinking...

@Rune.miner: Google Maps is for finding real places that one can drive/fly to. This program is for doing network diagnostics. It uses a map overlay so you can see where network traffic is going, but the map is not meant for navigation in a plane/car like Google Maps is.

Path Analyzer Pro is awesome. Besides being just a cool program to use, it actually helps solves problems. When we experienced a network issue and were arguing with our ISP / network provider about where the problem was, Path Analyzer Pro helped us determine where in the line things were messing up. Then, by exporting the report and charts as images and droppping them into an e-mail to our providers (all it takes is one click in the app), it made it easy for even a non-network-person to see where the problems were and how bad they were. This program has my vote for a must-have network utility.
