I use a free tool Valentina Studio http://www.valentina-db.com/en/valentina-studio-overview at the moment. Does everything you need, and does it very well.

Probably one of the most unstable applications ever, also the slowest. Connect to any database remotely that has a lot of tables and you'll be waiting a while. Also selecting databases can easily crash the application.

It looks good. It just doesn't work. It crashes every half a minute. And I am not the only one saying that. Stay away !

Gotta agree with you. The tools look slick and query browser would be great... if it actually worked. It can handle super basic stuff but the things you'd want to use it for (i.e. more complex queries with joins and whatnot) just don't seem to work. perhaps they work as advertised on Windows but the Mac version just doesn't cut the mustard.

MySQL GUI tools have always worked for me, whether in Linux or Mac OSX. Previous versions for Mac OSX had problems with code-completion (seg faults), but it seems to be fixed in this version (although the completion list seems a bit off).

Also the UI seemed to be cleaned up slightly and is definitely a useful tool. I use this program on an Intel Macbook Pro and PowerPC G5.

For the person complaining about this FREE tool, if they didn't submit a bug report from mysql.com, then its their loss. This is a free tool and open-source, so testing and bug reports must come from the end-users as well for the process to work. :)

Query Browser has not succeeded at running a query for me AT ALL - it crashes ALL OF THE TIME. Every once in a while, I download the newest version and give it another try, hoping that it has been improved. I have tried it about 10 times now over several months, and it NEVER works. Don't waste your time. MySQL: We need this application to work so that we can complete the tutorials/examples in the O'Reilly books devoted to your products! Please don't dump your crappy "open-source" unfinished projects on us! Hire some testers and get this sorted out. Unacceptable.

Update: I am filling in 1(worst) rating for Features, Ease of Use, and Value, even though they are optional. They should be 0, not rated since I have no idea about them as program does not work. However, MacUpdate is also broken and will not post my review otherwise, it seems.

Pretty UI, though could follow Apple UI guidelines more closely. Query Browser crashes often. Administrator seems to work well on the main; the workbench tools at least will reverse-engineer a DB ok.

Overall, too many bugs. This product is beta quality, I couldn't imagine relying on it in a production environment.

Hmmm... The scheduled Backup of MySQL Administrator does not work. It just creates 4kb files without any data.

I haven't tried it again, sorry. I mostly use phpMyAdmin manually.

I love the Query Browser and use it constantly throughout the day. Following my leopard clean install I had tons of problems with crashing- it would often crash just on launching the Universal version. By downgrading to a previous PPC version I could use it with about 1 daily crash. Then I discovered that when I didn't have Default Folder X running, the current Universal version ran great. After talking to the Default Folder X guys it turns out that it's a bug in the MySQL Query Browser's handling of AppleScript. Other apps that hook into AppleScript may also cause the crashes. I've been crash free since adding Query Browser to the Default Folder X exception list!
