Thank God for Aqua4iTunes. At least I can still pretend that Apple still actually cares about UI consistency and good interface design.

I'm probably stating the obvious here, but it didn't work on iTunes 10.5.2

God and I thought I was the only one who didn't like DARK GRAY toolbars, menubars, scroll bars, windows, icons plastered all over my operating system lol. To listen to the sheeple that have jumped onboard the Apple bandwagon in the last couple years, DEFEND Leopard's latest GUI changes has been comical to say the least. Aqua sure wasn't perfect but it was a hell of a lot more vibrant and eye catching than anything Leopard or Snow Leopard has offered us to date. But tell that to the newest breed of mac user and he'll go out of his way to try and convince you that this "graphite" look isn't excessively dark, heavy and just plain boring looking. Aqua4iTunes is a great program that should definitely continue being updated for OS X.

This release doesn't take in to account the new applications icon in iTunes 7.7.

The only thing I wish is that the author would make older versions available on his website. After experimenting with some of the newer versions of iTunes, I've opted to go back to an earlier version. But I can no longer obtain a copy of Aqua4iTunes for the older version.

Stop whingeing! This guy does this for free. Updates regularly. What do you expect? He does a great job. Well done for allowing us to customise iTunes. 3 cheers. Hurrah!

What happened!? This new version sucks. Why did you remove the UNO variation? And Graphite can no longer be selected? Horrible, I'm better of copying resources manually.

So, let me guess - this is now broken for iTunes 7.3.1, isn't it? And it's probably going to do nasty things if you install it? I sense a pattern here.

I'm still using iTunes 7.2. Anyone know where I might find a previous version of Aqua4iTunes 3.2? I didn't see anything on the developer's page. Thanks.

There's a version 3.3 that works on iTunes 7.3. Earlier versions do not - see the previous post. To get 3.3, just go to the developer's site. Makes me wonder what the process is for MacUpdate to update their entries...

Beware using this on iTunes 7.3. Since this replaces the entire resource file, it will certainly break the new iTunes. Replacing an entire resource file without version checking or other safety measures is inherently dangerous, and poor design. PLEASE, look at the way CandyBar handles this. For each resource you want to replace, run a checksum on the existing resource (to make sure it's what you expect), and then change ONLY the resources you need to. That way if Apple adds new ones (AppleTV, iPhone, etc) then you're safe, and you can support most new versions without needing an update to Aqua4iTunes at all. Not to mention it makes the whole process a lot safer, makes the download much smaller, removes any potentially objectionable copyrighted items in the iTunes resource file, etc.

Hi, The "or later" bit is a mistake. Aqua4iTunes 3.1 WILL NOT work with iTunes 7.2. Even if you try and copy the resources across without the program, iTunes will not work. v3.2.0 will fix this problem and should be posted on Saturday. regards, Paul.

I just upgraded to iTunes 7.2 and now Aqua4iTunes does not work anymore. I tried recreating the iTunes 6 look in iTunes 7.2 and it there was an error it said: ERROR: This Program requires iTunes 7.1 or later to be installed. I have iTunes 7.2 running on Mac OS X -- I have an Intel based Mac Mini with Mac OS 10.4.9 I hope there is an update coming to Aqua4iTunes soon. I remember last time Aqua4iTunes had problems with an iTunes update -- after installing AquaiTunes with iTunes 7.1.1 then when starting iTunes the Library would dissappear. Aqua4iTunes was fortunately updated fix the problem. This time the problem is that it cannot recognize iTunes 7.2.

Hi, Aqua4iTunes 3.1 beta 2 and above should play nicely with iTunes 7.1.1. Any problems, please see the programs about box for my email address. Regards, Paul.

This would be a lot simpler, smaller, and safer if it only replaced those resources it needs to, rather than carrying around several full copies of the iTunes resource file. Replacing the entire resource file is inherently unsafe anyway, as it can easily change every point update. Please, just use Resource Manager calls to replace the appropriate PICT resources. That will also allow more customization and flexibility, and avoid problems inherent in overwriting other resources that may easily change from version to version.

Hi, Aqua4iTunes doesn't go anywhere near the iTunes library folders so I would be very surprised if that was the case. Please could you send me the iTunes software version (MUST be 7.1 else it will create a blank iTunes window) and the exact procedure you followed (including the installed theme, I suspect a faulty resource file). Mean while, try installing the default theme in Aqua and your library should reappear.

Hi, Version 3.1 alpha 1 works with iTunes 7.1. Graphite resources will be added back in alpha 2. If you still require itunes 7 support, 3.0.5 can be downloaded from my website. Many thanks for all of your continued support. Kind regards, Paul.

Aqua4iTunes doesn't work with iTunes 7.1 (released today). Running it will break the "Library" view or any non-iTunes store view. Uninstall is also broken, much to my disappointment (Applescript error).

Aqua4iTunes is a great program. It makes iTunes look even cooler, but for some reason it messed up my iTunes interface. For a while I've had a problem that made a piece of the border frame disappear, and when I used this program, it made my scrollbars very messed up. It was the sort of look when a game's graphics mess up and go all black and purple. I reinstalled iTunes and its fine now, maybe there is a problem. However, its more likely just a problem with my computer.

Hi, Thank you for the feedback. v3.1 is in development and will include more options for customization. v3.1.0 will add a couple of features but is mostly a code rewrite enabling me to add customization features in future versions with ease. Watch this space!

Quite impressive! Worked without a hitch on the new iTunes 7.0.2 update. One request - would it be possible for us to select exactly which graphical elements we want? For instance, I'd like to pick the Uno background, the "all aqua" buttons, but not the volume slider. I could see being able to pick and choose each element (play buttons, view buttons, browse headings, volume slider, bottom buttons, source highlight, scrollbar widgets) independently, and then choose which window style is wanted. The current preview would make it very easy to see what things would look like in the end, and since it's just replacing a lot of resources, it should just be a matter of a bunch of branch statements. Of course, I've been known to drastically oversimplify coding jobs before. :)

While I think that iTunes 7 has the best look of any of the versions to come out, this program does what it is promised. I have to give it 5's all around. Obviously, though, this isn't made for me, as I like the new pretty iTunes.

Works fine on my old G3 iMac. Running 10.4.8 To me it a lot of trouble to thru to get sunken buttons and lighter skin. Had turn off my shapeshifter theme then turn it back on after install, Had to go on net and find uno and install it, do a restart. Then finished up with installing the iTunes skin. It would be worth the trouble if I could get some colored skins, red, blue, black anything but graphite shades.

Oh Dear! This killed my iTunes 7. Would not let me open iTunes. Error message saying need more memory. Also asked for authentication password and when entered asked me another 5 times before telling me it had aborted and I was unsuccessful. Same with every button chosen. Me thinks this needs more work. Good intentions though by the developer. iTunes 7 is very ugly indeed. iBook G4 running 10.3.9
