The name of the program (Translator) doesn't match the name of the application. I wish developers would name the download file the same as the program name rather than this or some abbreviation that makes it hard to track in the future.

could you please give me more information: crash-report, Version of MacOS X, ...

try to delete ~/library/preferences/translator.plist
if that doesn't help delete the complete app an re-install a fresh copy.

Sorry for the trouble

Thanks for the log and being so patient.
A new version (0.12.1) is available for download on the sourceforge-site that fixes this bug.

I've updated my list of checks to perform before releasing...

At first sight looks like a great application, of course more dictionaries are needed, but it's just a matter of time. I will like spanish english, french spanish, english french, italian spanish, italian english. Well, many wishes, anyway, a good application.

version 0.10.1 with the new icon.

it works fine under tiger and is very use full. translator is now localized in german to and there is now a feature to update the app and install dictionaries directly in the running app.

thats why d-point created the icon for the application.

many thanks to Markus Westphal, the developer. keep up the good work !

Works for me (Mac OS X 10.4.7). I've downloaded the German-English dic. Is it possible to download/install other dics than the ones shown in the app preferences? How?
Thanks for making it free. =)

I will add new dictionaries as people request them. The problem is to find freelay available ones that reach a certain level of quality...
Please note that 0.9 is a pre-release. For the first final release I'm planning to add a feature that auto-updates the list of available dictionaries.

Cool. How does one request a dic? I'd like to see a EnglishPortuguese dictionary, as well as a SpanishPortuguese or an EnglishSpanish.

As a side note, I missed the articles in the German dictionary... It would be better if it showed the article (der, die, das) instead of the substantive genre.

MacTranslator itself is just an graphical interface that allows you to search in freely available dictionaries (like the one on http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/ding-es-de for example).

Tell me where I can find such dictionaries for the languages you requested and I will add support for them....

Please add a feature request on the sourceforge-site.

Jedik had trouble on 09 Sep 2006
Upgrading from the previous version didn't work, the app quit after launching (see reply for Console log). I had to delete the plist file and re-download the dictionary.

Now it says on every launch that there is a new version (0.10.1), but even after downloading and restarting it's not updated (still version 0.10).

I'm sorry for the troubles. The reason may be that I changed the way dictionaries are organized from 0.9 to 0.10.
Probably you should delete just everything (~/library/preferences/translator.plist AND the app) and re-install a 'fresh' copy of Version 0.10.1.

Again I'm sorry for the trouble but please consider that versions prior to to 1.0 are explicitly marked as non final.
