I, too have had a little bit of trouble with 5.26: System Preferences seems to crash whenever the Screen Saver Options button for any XSS is pressed - but only if another XSS is first previewed or it's options inspected. So basically, if I launch System Prefs, go to ScreenSavers and then select an XSS, I can access its options, but if I then select a different XSS and try to access the options, System Prefs crashes. Still trying to track down the cause but may end up contacting the dev.

Overall however, the screensavers are fantastic like they've always been. For those having problems with the screensavers themselves crashing System Prefs when previewed, bear in mind that many of the savers allow you to set option ranges that your machine can't handle, no matter how fast it is. In that case, you'll probably have to trash the individual prefs file - located in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ as org.jwz.xscreensaver.*.plist.

Hi Mike! you didn't state what OS you have. It really doesn't matter as I have Mavericks as well as SnowLeopard and I also have Leopard on seperate Macs.I have this application on all of my Macs and they run well. The main thing is NOT to run the window that says RUN ALL OF THEM (or some such thing) If you do you will get a Half Baked application for some strange reason. I have been successful in my downloading of this app because I did the old way of doing it. I downloaded from the xscreensavers list. Shift Clicking to download ALL of them.Let me know how you do by my method, I think that is why the other users of xsreensavers had a problem with the app.

Hi Mike When you do use the Window that says "Screensavers" and AFTER you download the whole thing or certain parts that you prefer. It wouldn't hurt to restart the Mac to make sure everything will be installed properly. This is a GREAT FREE application and it is a 5 star app. Some people who are addicted to only FREEBIES and are always looking for handouts and really expect everyone to give everything to them for NOTHING expect everything to be perfect all the time. (you know who you are}They never would give a nickle to support a Developer

The download from the developers site is correctly 5.26 and all modules appear to be working and the Preference Pane no longer flashes when changing modules.

Amc3 has the same problem as you have.A sick OS! You may think my comments are tripe but as you can see there are a lot of Mac Users that would quarrel with you.Clean up your OS and try it again and you will see it is stabile.

@OSX-FTW and Amc3 I don't know what you 2 users are talking about.I have Mavericks on my Macbook Air and on my 2 iMacs I have Snow Leopard. I tested several of the Xscreensavers and they are all OK on all Macs. Please not I used the window Screensavers to install them instead of the other window install everything. Maybe that makes a difference. This is a 5 star application.

If it was OK and we don't know what we are talking about, why did the developer rush this out? Could it be, as in the developer notes above, "Some files were missing from the tar ball." Jazzguy, keep comments to software, not posters who do see a problem, whether you do or not.

My comments were directed to the software I really don't know what you are referring to. I dieted my posting to you because you had trouble with this application and I wanted to be helpful to both you and OSX-FTW but of course you took it the wrong way. I really believe that if you use the window that I referred to you will have no problems,

My recent posting should say DELETED not DIETED.There is absolutely nothing wrong with this software or its construction. Maybe Amc3 and OFX-FTW should repair permissions and use the latest version of DiscWarrior.

It's not a 5-star app because it's not stable. Even after following Amc3's advice about getting the newest version from the Dev's site. Advice that was actually helpful, unlike your dismissive tripe.

It is A 5 Star Application. It is stabile. Maybe your OS is not right. I have NEVER had a problem with any of Jamie's Apps going back to when he started to release the screensavers. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth unless you are usually getting everything for free.

Whew! Enough caffeine, already, Jazzguy.

I believe OSX-FTW! and I thought this was a democratic forum based on trying to assist each other, not to dismiss others less than perfect systems or software. You are very lucky everything is perfect.

Why go on like this Amc3? Clean up your OS by using DiscUtility or Disc Warrior for Mavericks.(If you have Mavericks) You will see that Jamie's Screensavers are great (and stabile)This is a Democratic Forum and I tried to help you and you took it the wrong way.

An A for effort. But, things aren't getting any more stable. Unfortunately, things may be getting worse. Many of these crash System Preferences or run poorly. Many others run great. A mixed bag.

Same here. However, in the past I have put these in my user/Library/Screen Saver folder, and this new one click install put a new copy in HD/Library/Screen Saver and apparently this was causing havoc so I tossed them from HD to User and all is back to it's normal instability instead of gross instability.

Same also for me. The developer is trying to get things going but, at present, isn’t sure what’s causing the crashes

Wow, talk about great timing! I just today removed all the old versions of these screen savers because they no longer worked under Mavericks (OS X 10.9)! Nice to not have even a day without them!

Thanks to the developers. You're awesome!
