Current version starts randomly when paused! This is very bad. I was just sitting here and suddenly it starts randomly playing. I'm sure my neighbour is not going to appreciate this if it goes off in the middle of the night.

FStream is one of the most excellent apps in its realm! I was using it for a long time with great pleasure. Several days ago I've had a computer crash. My FStream app was lost. Well, here is the problem. My laptop is 32bit and for next year or so I wouldn't have chance to change it to 64bit. That's why I need FStream for 32bit, for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to be precise. Is there anyone who could assist!? Thank you.

Actually solved the problem by NOT using "unarchiver." I tried another app.; "stuffit expander" and it worked.
I then downloaded the newest version of "unarchiver" and that now works as well.
Thanks for your help, Jcraig, it sent me in the right direction...

After all these years, still an awesome little streamer app for both Mac and for iPhone. It would be cool to be able to sync favorites between devices (iCloud?), otherwise it does what it's supposed to do and does it well. One of my favorite apps and a 'first install' on any new machine. Thanks for your continued hard work and support of FStream.... Joel

I am not able to update.
OS 10.9.2
I can download the .tgz file and it "extracts," but I can't find any application... or anything else besides the .tgz file on my desktop.
Can anyone help?

Jb4, if you're simply updating, do so from the menu bar (FStream>>>Check For Updates). Not sure why you're having the problem that you are. Maybe try using The Unarchiver (highly recommended) rather than Apple's built-in unzipper to open the tgz file to see if you have better success.

"Jb4, if you're simply updating, do so from the menu bar "{

Tried that, message tells me that the installed v.1.4.8 is the latest version

"try using The Unarchiver (highly recommended)"

"Unarchiver" is my default app. When I open with it, the icon on the dock activates and shows a little "1" as it does it's unarchiving, but even though it's set to to save the file to the desktop, there is never any file. I've done it over 10 times now.

Dear SourceMac, first of all many thanks for nice application. I am using it first day but already impressed. My goal is to install on my home unattended server (MAC-MINI server, model late 2012 with OS X 10.9.1)transmitter from Internet radio to home audio network built on ABB product “Audio World”. Transmitter should work 24x7 without regular access to MAC-MINI. For any changes on MAC-MINI I can connect to it through SSH and VNC clients. I started tests with FStream and have two questions from the beginning.
1. I have two additional USB Audio cards on server to create more than one audio transmission from server (my family members love different genres :-). Is it possible to make a choice of audio output in application or system default is the only target audio output?
2. Is it possible to start two instances of FStream with different audio output for purpose described above?
Thank you in advance for your answer.

Season Greetings for all!

Hi Ikar. Sorry but no : FStream can only use the main Audio Output.

I take note of your need, but it's the first time than this one is expressed, and doesn't seem to be trial to do, so I'm not sure that this possibility will be included in a near future. Pearhaps that Airfoil can do the trick for now ?

Hi SourceMac. Thank you for answer and advice. I have tested already a number of applications. I will try Airfoil in the first opportunity also. Presently I am using FStream on the main Audio Output and two other applications - SonicWeb and VOX (both have Audio Output switch implemented) on additional sound cards. My congratulations to you! FStream looks like as absolutely fault tolerant application. It works already without my attention more than 150 hours. New Year is not a simple time for Internet traffic. Radio station connection is not stable and must be restored many times during that period. Both other applications stop a normal Radio transmission few times during same time period and I restarted application itself or restarted playing task manually. It's the reason why I am bothering you with my questions :-). Ideal scheme for me will be 3 instances of FStream with 3 Radio Channels transmitted 24x7x365. Please understand me - it's only a dreams, I will not bother you more and will only waiting for extensions if you will do it in future. Many thanks once more for brilliant application!

I'd like to balance all the harassment made here below by that guy not so jazzy ;-) because I think he has a personal hate against this dev and I have had other occasions to read what a "gentleman" he is, giving names to people who don't think like him... :-/
As I mentioned on other versions, I use this app since years and it's working perfectly, it's free, so I can't understand why someone is getting crazy because it doesn't play a particular stream or type of streams??? If you don't like it, use something else and stop polluting this forum with your rant!
Love and peace and have a merry Xmas, you all! :-)

Love and Peace! Don't say that and lambaste me. I stated that I like this app when you put in the FREE streams from Shoutcast. Don't you read? My post is right below yours and after this reply. I like this app as long as you don't put in streams that are not free and there are many. As you can see from my user name that you misused (I could make fun of your user name too but I didn't.)I love Jazz and there are many free Jazz streams available that are free. I didn't mean to annoy Javerous but he took it the wrong way because of a language problem. I posted so that other users who had problems with Fstream would be able to learn from my personal experience. Unfortunately for me the Developer took it the wrong way when I said it was a "shame" that he didn't reply. It was a poor choice of words as he took it the wrong way. I hope you have a Merry Christmas

From Jazzyguys 5 Star Rating of Netnewsreader:
"That is amazing because they are acting like BABIES. Because they didn't get all the FEATURES they wanted. Who are they to DEMAND sync anyway? The developer decides what features he wants in an app NOT the USERS! "
So please stop crying around about FStream.

@Molalamola And your ignorance, my dear Neanderthalic friend, is an ineffable mystery to me - so boundless and extraordinary is it. If I may hazard a guess, I would suggest that perhaps it is due to the affects of many years of incestuous inbreeding, and perhaps also - though this is a stretch admittedly - also a vitamin C deficiency.

A little bug if you run v1.4.7 on 10.6.8: it won't load the last radio station if the app is launched through a shortcut (with Keyboard Maestro or iKey, for example — but it works with an AppleScript).
I've checked in 10.9, it works.
Except for this small inconvenience (I'll have to change my shortcuts...), it still a must-have! :-)

Extremely poorly designed auto update.
It tells me I'm due an update.
What it doesn't tell me is that the update is not compatible with my Mac, and that the new version won't work.
So, now, rather than a new and improved app, I have a broken waste of space on my hard drive.

Useless.

I have noticed that on 10.5.8, FStream takes a very long time after launch (1 minute) to finally connect and start playing.

I seem to recall it doing so in just 5 or 10 seconds in the past.

No problem here in OSX.5.8 on G4 with DSL connection (8 Megabits per second, no special proxies). FStream connects instantly to the last used stream and plays automagically within six seconds.

Great app, but after I upgraded to Snow Leopard, FStream now takes up to several minutes to connect to a station. Before, it was almost instantaneous. Have no idea why. It's quite irritating when switching stations to see what's on.

Fixed: I had used the stream URL from within iTunes, which itself re-directs to the actual radio stream's home website and downloads the playlist (this was working fine until a while ago). I've now entered that direct .pls url into the stream URL and it connects quickly again.
