Syncopation provides a hands-free solution to keep your iTunes music collection synchronized across multiple computers running Mac OS X.

Once installed on two or more Macs, Syncopation goes to work, finding music that is on one computer but not the others, and automatically transfers the songs between them so that they both contain your complete music collection. Leave it running in the background and it will keep your iTunes libraries up-to-date.

When you make changes to your song files on one computer, Syncopation updates your other computers with those changes. If

This app sounds great but is definitely lacking a bit. First of all, it just needs to be smarter. I had two albums (in different libraries) where the only difference was a capital letter in the album title ("onmyradio" vs "Onmyradio"). Otherwise the files were completely identical. It just can't have a generic search where ANY difference whatsoever is merit for copying. Minor discrepancies in album titles happen all them time, particularly when there is punctuation. (i.e. "Vo1. 1," vs "Vol 1:" or "Vol. 1-"). If this thing copies anything and everything with no "intelligence" to speak of, I'm going to spend hours removing duplicates from all my synced libraries. This app is supposed to save me time, not create more work for me.

My second issue is the interface itself. Simple is good, but TOO simple, to the point where you have too little control over what happens, is not good. There is too little the user can do to actually help the app make the correct choices. You can "transfer tracks by dragging between the track list and the source list." How about enabling the track list and source list to be viewed in SEPARATE windows so we can see them AT THE SAME TIME. Having only one view and having to go back and forth is just retarded.

This app has potential, but it still feels like a fresh off the shelf version 1.0 app. When it becomes smarter and more robust, then it'll be a great addition to my software library.

This is great - does what it says on the box and does it well. It synchronises in both directions.

This is absolutely not the same as just sharing your library - you can add files and make changes in either library and they'll be reflected in the other.

I found it's worth a quick glance at the Help to get you going.

Well that isn't exactly true - want I REALLY want is for iTunes to allow me to have **ONE** location for all of our music, yet still allow every computer to maintain their own playlists, etc. GGGggrrr!

That said, Syncopation is an awesome stopgap. I haven't run into any of the issues other users have reported - either I am lucky or I actually followed the developer's setup documentation... :)

Very happy PAYING customer.

Great app!

Not only keeps my powerbook up to date, but it also helps to keep all of my computers with iTunes in sync with the shared media library on my NAS.

Why would you wanna sync your iTunes library?

Just have it on one of your Macs and share it instead.

Maybe one of your Macs is a laptop, then you have to go somewhere with that laptop. Sure would be nice if you had all your tunes on it, wouldn't it?

Just because something isn't useful for you doesn't mean others won't find it useful.
