FetchYourLyrics is a small utility that lets you view the lyrics of the current song playing in iTunes. If the lyrics are missing, you can search for them using an internal browser, in an easy and intuitive way.
What's New
Version 1.7:
  • Changed the minimum requirements. To run FetchYourLyrics you need Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and iTunes 6.0.2;
  • New option in Preferences to open iTunes when you open FetchYourLyrics;
  • New option in Preferences to start an automatic search: if the lyrics are empty and is not in Exception List, the search for the lyrics is launched as soon as the music starts playing;
  • The search for the text inside the lyrics was totally rewritten and now it uses an incremental search field (search while you type);
  • If the songs in the 'Find In Lyrics' are not up-to-date, you can update the information about the songs using a new update routine in Preferences;
  • Added an option to exclude some songs from the search (if the song is instrumental, like classical music) called Exception List;
  • The Exception List can be modified at any time, just by selecting a song and clicking on 'Update' to remove the song from the list and make it searchable again;
  • In the search results window, you can simply select the text and type Shift + Command + V to add the selected text as the lyrics of the current song without editing it. Typing Shift + Command + E copies the selected text and opens a window to edit it before saving as the lyrics;
  • The 'Control iTunes' window has been incorporated to the main window;
  • The main window now displays the running time of the current song.
Version 1.7:
  • Changed the minimum requirements. To run FetchYourLyrics you need Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and iTunes 6.0.2;
  • New option in Preferences to open iTunes when you open FetchYourLyrics;
  • New option in Preferences to start an automatic search: if the lyrics are empty and is not in Exception List, the search for the lyrics is launched as soon as the music starts more...
Requirements
Intel/PPC, Mac OS X 10.4 or later, iTunes 6.0.2 or later

I loved this app! But yes, it does crash, and is now unusable. Quite sad.

Just noticed three small problems:

1. Sometimes using search isn't successful for whatever reason, so obviously the user will utilise another method to find the lyrics. However, once the lyrics have been found, it is impossible to manually paste them into the edit window because an alert pops up telling you there aren't lyrics for the song and asking you to search first. Of course, it is possible to paste the lyrics directly into iTunes but I it would be more convenient if the application were to allow this type of pasting.

2. If you close the main window in error by clicking the red close button you can't reopen it unless you relaunch the application. The main window and the search window should both be listed under "Window" in the menu bar permenantly and when one or both of them is open a tick should appear in front of its name.

3. If you zoom the search window you cannot make it smaller again by clicking zoom, unlike the main window.

... but it's still the best application of its kind!

I don't understand why - it works perfectly on my iMac Intel 10.4.10. Send a detailed email to the developer. This it truly the best application of it's kind.

Then, I suggest that you rename your application to "ShowYourLyrics", which is much more suitable. ;-)

As you can see in the description of version 1.2.1, FetchYourLyrics now has an internal browser that allows you to 'fetch' the lyrics of the current song from the Internet, so I will keep the name. But thanks for your comments.

I apologize anyone that thought FetchYourLyrics was built to search and download lyrics from the Internet. It only displays the lyrics that already are in iTunes. I have already changed the app description. And again I apologize for any inconvenience.

Yep - Crashes on start up on 10.5.2, same as reported elsewhere, so it's a big fat zero for this app.
