Does this version need X11?

Yes, you need X11 to run OOo.

The advantage of this implementation of OOo is that you don't have to keep it in your startup volume's /Applications folder to use it. If you want an OOo implementation that doesn't need X11 and runs more natively in OSX, try NeoOffice - currently available based on OOo v1.1.5, but the v2.0.2 is in alpha testing right now and is already very stable. Uses native OSX fonts and print dialogue, and work on a more OSX-native GUI is in progress. An intel version is expected sometime in the summer. Meanwile, OOo v2 will run on any panther/tiger mac that has X11 installed.

How to install:
1. Drag "P_OOo2.0.X" folder to your portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (also to your internal hard disk) as long as it has 430 MB of free space.
2. Clicking "Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.X" will open OpenOffice.org 2.0 from your portable device, wait a while before OpenOffice.org 2.0 start.
3. If a local copy of OpenOffice.org 2.0 is running an alert window allow you to quit it.

Using your data - You can copy your user preferences folder to Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0 when "Copy preferences" window ask you. So, if you wish to use your preferences you already have on your system, just click "Yes" when prompted.

Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.X.app is packaged using the Platypus script wrapper.
