viewTunes Jukebox

2.5.1
08 October 2007

A new way to enjoy your iTunes music.

Overview

viewTunes is a powerful new music player that offers a better way to enjoy your iTunes Music Library. The intuitive interface allows you to visually browse your music collection with album artwork organized by artist or album name.

viewTunes is not meant as a replacement for iTunes. Instead it compliments iTunes ability to manage a great amount of information by offering a user interface that is focused on the music itself.

No need to maintain multiple music libraries: viewTunes uses your iTunes Music Library so you always have access thy your newest tracks. Any music added to iTunes is available to viewTunes when it is started.

Listen to all of your music! viewTunes is a QuickTime based music player, so in addition to all the popular music formats supported by QuickTime, you can even listen to music purchased at the iTunes Music Store.

I am having several problems, which may be arising from the fact that I am running Tiger Server. First, even though my iTunes library is in the location inside of my home folder, where it is supposed to, the program informs me that my "iTunes Music Library.xml" can't be found. Then I am asked to locate the file. Once I've done that, the program tells me that it can't find the file. This is followed up with a blank dialog and a sole "OK" button on it. I hit that and then am told that the program has to add the album art to its database. I click on "Add Artwork Now," and the program proceeds to be "Loading Artwork..." for an interminable time. Second, the program has unexpectedly, quit on occassion. Perhaps the cause of all this is that, given that I am running 10.4 Server, my home folder is not in /Users/. As you can see from my rating on everything other than stability, you can easily imagine that I would love to see this program fixed. My children would be able to use our music and e-book much more easily then.
