I got a mail message that iStat Menus was updated but it is by another company.

This widget still doesn't work right.
And the links to the developers site are broken.

I just found a site that shows how to make an edit to the code to bring the process section back into working order on Mountain Lion.
No guarantees on anyones system but here it is fyi:

This program doesn't detect proper temperatures. They are all too low. I did change the temperature to Fahrenheit, it didn't change, then I closed and reopened the widget and it still wouldn't change. It must not be made with newer Mac's in mind. I am uninstalling it.

That's still version 4.92. What's updated about it? 4.92 works fine for me in ML.

[edit] Oh I seem the processes part isn't there. I guess I was never interested in that anyway since I have Activity Viewer open. I use iStat for fan speed and temperature, and the battery gauges. :)

I have used this for years and loved the widget. It has helped me a number of times. BUT, there are three issues of late.
- The processes section no longer works. At least not since my update to Lion and now Mt. Lion - it just shows empty squares. I recently put in a new larger HDD and did a clean install of the OS; and with no extras added and things not yet reinstalled from my backup it still doesn't work.
- The external IP says 'updating' forever. Although this may have to do with my router as others have suggested (I recently went to a new router).
- The developer doesn't respond to inquiries. I contacted the developer about the processes issue and have never received even a courtesy reply saying they got my message or know about the issue and are working on it.

@Zincker, on my iMac all of it works except the external IP. But that's because of the router I'm going though. I can see its IP fine.

David, I'm also connected to a router but don't see its IP. When I turn WiFi on I don't even have the "Ext." line.

BTW, can't reach http://www.islayer.com ... seems down?

istat Menus is a good monitor. As its advertisement goes:
"iStat Pro is a highly configurable widget that lets you monitor every aspect of your Mac". This is quite right.
But too many windows, too many windows fills my menu bar, which make my Mac not to be clean at all. Hi guys, how do you think about it?

Version 4.9 great, but one little problem here : when iStat Pro 4.9 is active in Dashboard, the Dashboard applicaton eats about 10% of prosessor activity, as shown by Activity Monitor, even when the widgets are not shown on the desktop.

Disabling iStat Pro 4.9 then results in near 0% activity required by Dashboard.

Re-installation of iStat Pro 4.8 also results in near 0% activity required by Dashboard.

Is it my iMac G5 - 2GHz - 2GB Ram - 10.5.7, or is it version 4.9 of iStat Pro ?

I just updated and it runs flawless. Maybe it's your machine. I'm on a Macbook Pro, Leopard 10.5.7 and the Dashboard takes 0.0 CPU if I believe what the Activity Monitor says.

Is anyone else running Leopard having a problem with this neat little widget? I downloaded and ran it in Tiger and it displayed normally. In Leopard, however, it displays as if it my monitor were broken. Other widgets display just fine, but iStat Pro is pixelated and difficult, but not impossible, to read. Bob

I am running 10.4.7 on a MackBook Pro 2.16, and I can't get iStat pro to tell me the speed of my fans. It acts as though there are no fans. If I can't find the fan speed with iStat pro, is there another widget or program that will tell me?

This seems a bit to beta for me, hangs on the loading screen then sucks up all of my remaining CPU power.

Unusual, cause iSlayer is awesome, and all other versions have 'scrolled like butter'.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, this is very much a beta... looking at the widget it's hard to gauge how much change has gone on under the hood. Pretty much everything has been remade.

There will be a beta 2 soon that will fix all known bugs, then we'll almost be ready for prime time. Due to the amount of users using iStat, we want to make the release as clean as possible.

Cheers,
Marc @ islayer.

The temperature monitor does not seem to update itself. It's only when I launch the TempMonitor widget do I see that the SysStat temps get "jumpstarted" to reflect the current temperatures.

I'm using a Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz (hi-res) model.
