Use .wbz files as screensavers.

Overview

WBZ Helper... Holocore is pleased to provide this free unsupported utility for making the Webshots site easier to use on a Mac. The WBZ Helper takes .wbz images downloaded from Webshots and:
  • saves the photos to iPhoto or your Pictures folder
  • sets the photos as your screen saver (one-click configuration)
  • sets the photos as your desktop (ask, always or never)
  • plus useful links to other common Webshots functionality

What's new in WBZ Helper

Version 1.4 fixes errors with slow iPhoto imports, and handling of some .wb1 files. It also uses Webshots' new logo.

Now that American Greetings has purchased Webshots, it refuses to run my flash player. Says I need the "newest." So I contacted them and found out that they are NOT supporting any more downloads of Webshots currently. Here's what they supplied me: "Hello, Thank you for contacting Webshots Customer Support. Unfortunately, our Webshots Desktop Software is not compatible with MACs at this time and our site no longer supports the wbz helper. In the future, this may change. However, I do apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused. If you don't have a PC with which to use your Webshots membership, please let me know and I will process the cancellation of your membership for you." Another site that does not care about Macs. Dumb. However, the wbz Helper STILL works as of 05/19/2010. For how long is anybody's guess. I was a Webshots user for nearly 10 years. Very poor marketing strategy, IMO.

Worked flawlessly initially. Now I get wrong caption when .wbz pics converted into iPhoto. Usually just one off. Any solutions? I realize this is free and highly useful service, but just thought I'd ask. Thanks for a great mini-app.

Make sure you've deleted any past pictures that may be shopwing in your temp folder when you download into iPhoto. Also delete "last download" picture. WBZ throws the captions off by one if there are any pictures left over.
