Cuppa is better! You can save time settings for all of your favorite teas and coffees and selected them with one click to start the time with Cuppa. It lets your know when steep/brew time is done with a nice popup and/or growl notification.
I've used the PPC version for years now, it was free, simple and efficient (I chose it cos' it was the easiest way to launch a timer with a shortcut...).
I now try the Intel version, it's not free (though cheap), but crashes on my first attempt on SL.

Even if its purpose is different, that other free app is another simple and efficient option.
(though the alarm sounds are inaudible in a noisy environment)

Launches quickly with a double click and then all you need to do is type the time and hit enter. What could be simpler?
I end up using this almost every day. Inobtrusive, handy, tiny--a perfect little utility!
