Overview

Reveal is an easy-to-use, cross platform EXIF metadata viewer with limited editing capabilities.

Reveal was designed to present as many details about how a photo was taken in a clear and easy to understand format.

What's new in Reveal

Version 1.2:
  • Read support has been added for 10 file formats (PNG, TIFF, in addition to several RAW file formats).
  • Embedded thumbnail images are now visible in the Details pane.
  • Photo descriptions can be viewed/edited in the Summary pane.
  • Zooming the image thumbnail in the summary pane is now much smoother on all platforms.
  • Reveal has a new application icon and a new about window.
  • Qt and exiv2 have been bumped to 4.2 and 0.11 respectively.

I created a macupdate account just so I could comment on this app. It is great! There are a lot of EXIF data "viewing" apps. But few to EDIT the EXIF data. This that do exist require the command line. Reaveal is not a command line tool. It has a GUI. Simply changing the creation date with File Buddy or another app DOES NOT change the EXIF data. The "photo taken date" remains the same (in the EXIF). I have Kodak cameras and this allows me to change the date and other info when I forget to reset the date after charging the battery. One flaw is the inability to do several photos at once.

The User Interface looked really weird, with lots of yellow and pink (10.8). Very few infos were displayed, compared to the Finder's "get info" window... Disappointed.

Just what I was looking for - lightweight, displays loads of information and is free! Shame about the thumbnail being messed up (using 10.6) but that's not so important. Thank you!

1 an après, pas d'amélioration : Reveal fonctionne à peu près sur OSX.6, mais les couleurs ressemblent à un négatif photo...

Reveal still works in Snow Leopard 10.6.1 -- sort of. It displays EXIF information just fine, but the thumbnail image is all crazy colours and noise. Too bad, as it's a great little app otherwise.

Excellent tool. Works flawlessly, yet I hope it gets updated again for new formats and cameras
