HTML editor for clients to update websites w/o risking your design or code.

Overview

Tempre (pronounced temper) is a simple WYSIWYG HTML editor to allow your clients to update their website without risking changing any of your design or code. Tempre is 100% free for developers!

If you've ever made a content management system that required your clients to copy and paste HTML into a plain text box, this may be for you!

What it actually does is edit a mySQL database through a PHP page so all you have to do is "echo" or "print" the contents of the database onto your page. This ensures your client can ONLY edit the content and not any other part of the page.

Some of it's features include:

  • Text Formatting (alignment, underline, bold, italic, size, color)
  • Links (create, edit, and delete links from directly inside Tempre)
  • Tables
  • Horizontal Rulers
  • Images (with transparent auto upload, add an image to Tempre, it's uploaded instantly to server)
  • Auto-Backup & Manual Restore
  • Windows version on the way!!

We've developed a complete video help series for the software so that once the website is done, your client can be 100% self sufficient. Go here to see our help series. You can even create customized directions for them if you sign up as a developer. The goal of this software is to take you entirely out of the equation when it comes to simple website upkeep (we got fed up with the 11 pm emails with "emergency" changes that needed to be made to the website).

Tempre has a unique license that allows you to become a reseller by going here. You use the software for free and sell it to your clients and make 50% commission!

You can submit feedback from directly in Tempre, so if you can think of an idea that would make it better, let us know. We highly recommend you visit the developer site for much more information!

If you download Tempre, you will automatically be setup to connect to the demo site. The password is: "demo"

What's new in Tempre

Version 1.3: File Uploads! Drag and drop any file and it's automatically uploaded and a link is generated!

I understand the only difference with a Wiki is, your code is proprietary. Ah yes, and Wiki motors are so numerous that one is more likely to find one best fitted to one's aims, would it be TeX formatting, text rulers or better image support...

Looks like a really great piece of software. I'd be happy to give a customer something like this, so they can edit their pages on their own. I'd like to see a pc version for clients that don't use a mac.

I'm confused as to how this compares to a Wiki. It's not for note taking or idea management, it's for website updates. Updates that will display inside a design and/or style sheet. That means only the content can be edited, not the entire web page. If you go to http://tempreeditor.com/demo.php you will see how Tempre content looks in a web page. For developers who don't feel to making an entire section of a website for simple content updates, it's a nice break. I use this with all my clients and no longer receive repeated emails asking for simple updates. They feel comfortable with the "text editor" feel that it has.

I really like the concept of this software! Seems like a handy tool for web developers to give to their clients... No more "can you update this and can you take the . out of this sentence.." nice work!

Can't make their own website run. Shouldn't expect to make a living out of this :). I expected them to setup a demo site to try out as a user but if this is the result on their own main website, who will go for it. This is what I get when I go to their website for more information-- "PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 2 PHP Warning: mysql_select_db(): Access denied for user: 'ODBC@localhost' (Using password: NO) in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 3 PHP Warning: mysql_select_db(): A link to the server could not be established in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 3 PHP Warning: mysql_query(): Access denied for user: 'ODBC@localhost' (Using password: NO) in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 5 PHP Warning: mysql_query(): A link to the server could not be established in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 5 PHP Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 6 PHP Warning: mysql_query(): Access denied for user: 'ODBC@localhost' (Using password: NO) in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 9 PHP Warning: mysql_query(): A link to the server could not be established in d:\home\hnt15a233\index.php on line 9"

I'm sure it was just a temporary error. Even the best designers have them from time to time. Also, to the second reply, it was a server-side error, your web browser would have nothing to do with it.
