AOL Radio has been abandoned and does not work under Lion. Radium and other such apps take over when this one left off. Adios, AOL.

I like the app, but it's kind of crashy for me running 10.6.7 It would be nice to see this app updated, this version is almost three years old.

I see AOL is bringing their desktop client to the Mac after all these years. AOL radio is built into the client, like it is on their web site.

http://beta.aol.com/main

It's fully commercialized now, integrated with CBS Radio/Radio.com, and even Yahoo Music. Flash-driven.

This app seems to be dead for new development, nothing on the message boards, no new releases and crashes regularly on 10.6.x.

Never crashes on my 10.6.x. Never has. So perhaps it just might be you. BTW, have you noticed that you are the most downvoted member on this site? Ever wonder why?

On Sun., Aug 22, 2010 I downloaded AOL Radio onto my G5 Intel Mac running OS 10.6.4, 2 Gigs of ram.

It works perfectly for me although I wish they would update the stations list to include more stations.

AOL Radio is the only AOL product worth using. It's offers a large variety of genres with stations playing deeper cuts, which is refreshing considering that mainstream 'clone' radio stations play the same song ad nauseum.

Sadly, AOL Radio hasn't seen a release since July 2008 and still labeled "beta." It has its infrequent crashes on Mac OS X 10.6.2, which I hope they are continuing to develop this software and await one day for features like song skipping and live pause/resume. Adding more presets spots would help, too.

But from the looks of it, AOL sees an urgency to develop a lackluster and antiquated chat and desktop client...

I have version 1.1, and that is the last version to run on mac os 10.3.9, and a there is probably a newer version (before 2.0) that still works with 10.4.11!

On the other hand (now that I've used this a while) what's not quite so cool are the bright and chipper (and LOUD) institutional promos they put on every now and then. I understand that it's necessary to take care of business, but do they need to use people with voices that sound like chipmunks on speed, and do they have to crank up the volume quite so annoyingly? These can be real mood-breakers.

Stopped working some days ago. Apparently no update available yet from AOL. Too bad, because I really like this app and the quality of the music. Anybody else got this problem?

Yes. I have exactly the same problem. It has suddenly gone as dead as a dodo, for no apparent reason. It used to be great. Very disappointing indeed. I am running MacOSX 10.5.8 on an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac 7,1.

Legal Eagle, thanks for the confirmation. I use 10.6.2 on a Mac Pro.
I also use the (new) Intego VirusBarrier X6 and (old) NoobProof 1.4 firewalls.
I carefully checked both firewall settings, and found no problem here.

In which country are you located, Marthi ? I am in Australia. I have just learned that AOL may no longer be able to legally stream its broadcasts outside the USA, due to some new recently enacted copyright legislation in the USA. I'm afraid that I don't know the full details, but it may be that some USA person in this forum with legal knowledge knows the full story. I certainly couldn't find anything relevant on AOL's website. And for that matter, could not even find a usable email address to contact AOL. All pretty unsatisfactory IMHO.

I live in Luxembourg, Europe. I have no problem of receiving the usual AOL Radio through the website, without the app, though.
I hope that they are going to put their radio on shoutcast, so I could use other apps to receive it.

Is there any way to have the program sign in to AOL automatically? When I'm away, I like to record using Audio Hijack's timer feature, but you have to manually sign in to AOL before it will play.

If you set your Preferences to do so, AOL will log in automatically and even start up the last station you were playing...all checkboxes in the Preferences. (I own and use AudioHiJack Pro too...ain't it great? It's allowed me to record so much great streaming music.) Good luck. I hope I haven't said the obvious, you have some other problem.)

OK, I have just launched the app, was 'authenticated by AOL' but now get a message saying 'No AOL Radio stations support your current network bandwidth." It had already asked if I was using dial-up or broadband, and I clicked the latter.

I get no list of available stations.

Also an oddity is that there is a '?' at the bottom of the app's radio screen where, I assue, a logo/graphic would be.

Cannot review until I get it to work!
