Ten dollars is too much for a screen saver, even if it is of beautiful photos of a beautiful city. Five dollars would be top dollar for this.

$10 dollars seems pretty fair considering a photographer has to pay for transportation, developing, image processing, sacrifice of personal time, programming and management of sales. The images are beautiful and are worthy enough for me to purchase.

I'm always suspicious of shareware screensavers. First, I'm usually not looking at it when it's on so why pay money for something I'm not looking actually using? Second, I see things like OSXPlanet (FREE) as a great desktop application and then a screen saver version as shareware. Big Huh? Then there are things like shareware weather apps when there's Meteo for free. When something requires virtually no coding or is generally using someone else's work for 95% of it's content (and I consider the 'arms length' argument extremely feeble when you're at 95%) then I'm not buying or using. There are a lot of people in San Francisco with cameras and macs. There are even out of work professional photographers out there, so hey...how about we just dispense with the artistic judgement here. This type of 'shareware' would have artistic merit if it was so compelling that people purchased art from the vendor based on the free marketing value of this application. Not free...ok, here comes my iphoto library with pictures of things I like...not that I'm watching my screensaver spin pics or anything.
