Convert Address Book contacts to Pine format.

Overview

addressbook2pine is a utility that allows you to sync your OS X address book with pine's addressbook. Simply launch addressbook2pine and it will process all of your contacts in your address book and create a tab delimited file readable by pine. A prompt will ask you where you wish to save the new pine-readable .addressbook file.

I was so excited to find this utility that I left that rather silly comment. I have been longing to return to pine / alpine / re-alpine email, but I have had difficulty merging the Mac ecosystem with pine's .addressbook This does the trick, and gives a number of other options/customizations. An outstanding utility that fills a big pothole.

No, we don't have enough useful software. Pine is one of the original UNIX email clients and is still used by a good many UNIX geek. If you want these people to switch to Apples variation of UNIX then it's not to provide import and export tools for the software they use. Just because YOU do not know what Pine is.. doesn't that software dealing with it isn't of use. It's just of no use to someone like you. My mother use to tell me if I had nothing nice to say that I shouldn't say anything at all. I think this applies to this situation. If you have any desire to know what Pine is and what it looks like then check out the website at U of Washington. http://www.washington.edu/pine/

Ben: Well put and so true. Your mother is a vise woman, indeed. We need to advocate the necessity of respect and tolerance for others if we ever will create a humane, equal rights society. Give your mom a hugh from me. She raised her son well.

I might add that (AFAIK) Pine format is really a tab-delimited format, which makes this useful for anyone importing into apps accepting that format. Will give it a try and see how it works.
