XML validity checker.

Overview

XML Nanny is a developer tool that provides an Aqua interface for checking XHTML and XML documents for Well-Formedness and Validity either locally or across the network.

XML Nanny is the perfect tool for the Web author who cares! Checking your XHTML document\'s validity either locally or remotely is a snap, and XML Nanny\'s detailed error messages let you know about those embarrassing validation errors so you can debug them immediately.

XML Nanny cares for your XHTML documents in places the W3C web-based validation service can\'t reach... Suppose you are developing a standards-based Web site or application on your local Web server or behind a firewall. The W3C validator can\'t reach your document to validate it. XML Nanny can.

What's new in XML Nanny

Version 3.0 beta 1:
  • Vastly reduced application file size -- XML Nanny.app has gone from more than 20 MB to about 1 MB in size. This is due to jettisoning Xerces C++. XML Nanny 3.0 is based entirely on libxml2 -- and is much better for it.
  • Open in external editor is much improved -- now you can configure your preferred external editor. Clicking on error items in XML Nanny\'s result view will open the document or schema with the error selected.
  • XML Catalog support - Look under Window -> XML Catalog menu
  • More XML Parser config settings
  • Improved Schematron support
  • View parsed XML -- see what the XML Parser sees.
  • Improved stability and more

THANK YOU. Software works exactly as expected, and I finally have a quick, simple, free, and functional XML Validity checker for the desktop.

supposedly XML Nanny has gone "open source"...but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case and appears to be abandoned. one can't even download it from anywhere on the sourceforge page. it's a pity because this software was one-of-a-kind; i would have even paid for it.

Works nicely, but I'm after an even simpler use case. I'd like to be able to validate generated XML snippets without having to save them into a file - could you add a "paste" window that gets saved to some temp file for the checkers to work on?

easy to use, well-designed, and works like a champ. this app was essential to me when taking a class in XML/XSLT. the developer refused(!) to take donations for his work...even though i'd happily plunk down $15 for a great wrapper app like this, because i'd have no idea how to install or use the command line apps. brilliant stuff. thank you so much for this.

This application is a real charm. It does what it aims to with a simple interface. I'd like to be able to double-click on a message that it reports and see the source code directly where it's pointing out a problem, but even without that, this app rocks!

COOLFACTOR, I think that's a 'cool' idea. Watch for this soon. You know that if you are parsing a local document, you can currently double click a warning or error item in the list and BBEdit will open the source document with that line selected. I need to generalize this to your text editor of choice.
