NotifX is an E-Mail notifier for OS X (10.3 or later), you can program it in order to notify when you have mails with an original sound signal on your desktop.
What's new in NotifX
Version 3.1:
Choice of the position where the notifier will appear on the screen .
Corrections in Italian translation
Correction of bug on the \"Add adress to the junk list\" button, in German, Italian and spanish versions.
Features: Looks nice.
Ease of Use: Apparently very easy, if I only had a chance to use it... Unable to establish connection to my incoming mail server. Same problem on three different Macs (OSX 10.4.6) at three different locations (Apple Mail has been checked to work fine).
Value: Pay $15 at this stage? You must be kidding...
Stability: Freezes often. Once dimmed, no way to force quit. Needs restart.
Problems: (i) Stays always on top of all screens. (ii) Way too wide menu icon.
My conclusion: I intend to purchase once things get fixed.
Seems to be a nice and useful application, not as elegant as (say ) gmail notifier though. But ufortunately, I cannot even try it... when attempting to put in my email serever address, I immediately get the annoying message:
"An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down".
The developer has been notified.
in the limited field of new mail notifiers, this one seems kinda junior. it works just fine, but the overall feel and presentation feels very 1993. The graphics are cheap animated gifs. it feels like Playskool's My First Shareware. Like I said, it works just fine, but nothing outstanding, certainly not worth paying for.
maybe appetizer makes the same. but appetizer requires mail.app. NotifyX works with any pop email account and does not require mail.app. Great for entourage or thunderbird users.
Possibility to delete emails on the server would be great.
How would you rate NotifX app?
