Screensaver.

Overview

BusySpheres is a beautiful screensaver by Terry Welsh. It was originally written for Windows, and then ported to Linux by Tugrul Galati. I could not find a Mac OS X version, so I wrote one based upon screensaver ports by Stéphane Sudre.

What's new in BusySpheres

Version 1.0.1:
  • Quick fix for a complier problem that prevented randomized patterns from reliably working.
  • 1.0 (7/30/2005) - Initial port based upon Sudre's "Plasma" 10.0.4 and the busyspheres source code from Galati's 0.80 release of rss-glx.

Pretty good screensaver. It's interesting, not too flashy or complicated. The inability to change any settings - colors, complexity, etc - is a bit disappointing, but I'll certainly leave it as my screensaver for a while. Hopefully the author will continue to update this, as it has a lot of potential.

Runs a bit slow and jerkily on my Mac Mini, and it's hard to make out what it's actually doing. Perhaps some complexity or frame rate settings would help?

Somewhat pretty, but I wish it had some user-settable options. Other than single or multi-monitor, it has none at all. Looking forward to a version 1.1 or so that does.
