Tragically i can't figure out how to make this app work anymore in Lion. I've managed to get it to limp along for many years after support for it stopped. But at this point I can't figure out how to make it work anymore. The problem seems to be that Apple's "ChapterTool" code itself doesn't work anymore in Lion or something. All references to "ChapterTool" are missing from Apple's site now as well.

Current version is buggy under 10.4.10 on a MacBook Pro. The list locks to a given chapter if any changes are made or if the info panel is open. Only fix is to quit and reload.

I can confirm this. Same problem under 10.4.10 on a MacBook with 2.0GHz and 1GB RAM.

Still it is more than usable and I have successfully made a chapterised .m4b file. Excellent software!

ChapterToolMe is way easy to use and to figure out. It took me all of about two minutes to put together a podcast with five chapters. Very nice. Very pleased.

I was trying put together some songs and then divided the file by chapters... it was a huge file (500MB) with lots of chapters (one for each song inside the chaptered AAC). I got the following error every time that I try to macke the chaptered file. Could not esport movie (-108). I suppose that it does not work for such large files (-108 means that supossedly I have ran out of memory, even though I have a GB of ram)

This program worked as expected for me. I started with a 3.5 MB AAC file and added about a dozen chapters, each with art that was around 50k. When I created the new AAC file and played it in iTunes my chapters were indeed created in the proper places. Excellent!

However, I noticed that my filesize swelled to 8.5 MB. I'm not sure where the extra 5MB came from, since the pictures didn't even take up 500k.

Other than that, I really enjoy this program. I hope the developer continues working on it, as I will be glad to donate.

I managed to create a chaptered .ctm file ok, but I can't open it in iTunes. The icon is faded out when it appears in the iTunes import window. Any suggestions?

For some reason all I get when trying to save a file is:

Couldn't add chapters to movie (-2014)

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have emailed the author but no reply, no help file, no help on the website, no forums, great!

Tried converting from MP3 in iTunes also tried converting from original recording in Logic Express.

Cant figure out why I cant get this thing to work!

Any help appreciated!

Nice tool, well done!! What i really would wish for later, are software that enabled you to record and insert chapters while recording, by striking a key for instance. It is much hassle to write down the excact points in time afterwards.

Great tool -- I use it every week. I can spit out a chaptered aac in about 10 minutes.

My only suggestions are to show the URL in the dead space below the chapter list (all the significant information is at the end of my URLs, and the drawer is too small to show long URLs) and to make the Set Start Time button bigger.

I cannot imagine anyone who would go through the pain of the command line version of the tool.
