  • Pays attention to whatever friend groups you want.
  • You can use Obsession with any LiveJournal server including LiveJournal, DeadJournal, Minilog and others.
  • Using LiveJournal's secure challenge/response encrypted authentication, your password is stored inside your Keychain and never sent out in the clear.

Pretty good stuff, but it's not much more useful than the plethora of LJ-checkers, which in my opinion are all pretty useless, out there. The program needs to be able to tell you what groups have updated rather than just a generic "Hey, someone updated. Look through your groups to see who!" Even better if it would tell you what user/community had updated and when you clicked on their name in the alert menu it took you directly to the friend's group page. Right now, this app is more of an eye-candy distraction rather than something actually useful since it doesn't streamline locating the updated entries at all.

I agree with the previous review. For what it is, it's grreeeaaat. Too bad LiveJournal won't add the features to their website to make this program much more useful! Nonetheless it's the best LiveJournal checker for MacOS X and the integration with Growl works flawlessly!
