eBay Watcher overview

eBay Watcher is a Dashboard widget that allows you to monitor up to 3 auctions at once, see information ranging from title, auction number, image, current price, time left and much more.

You can set the auction refresh time from every 5 seconds up to an hour! Ebay Watcher will also play a sound when the auction price changes, even if your aren't in Dashboard. It's so simple to use, just type in your auction number in the search field and hit return and you will be instantly displayed with the auction details

The demo, or unregistered, version works on a 50-50 basis and only even numbered auctions. It will either show you the auction details, or it will display a Please Register message. Registering the widget guarantees 100% working all of the time.

If you change your hardware often this a useless application. i have had to purchase twice over the last two years as each license is tied to one mac and the developer refuses to give new serial numbers to activate on new hardware. As someone who supports shareware this is a very disappointing developer registration process.

No, the biggest problem w/ this widget is not the (escalating) price, it's that it doesn't work! None of the tabs will activate when I click on them, so I'm stuck at the "Auction" tab but even there, its sub tabs do not work. The settings "i" is oddly located and difficult to initiate. The crowning bug though is that when "i" is selected, it just turns the widget all the way around; it doesn't take you to a data entry area...so you've got no means to enter the eBay credentials to use!! Maybe this is the limitations of the demo, but if that's the case, I'm sure not paying $10 based on an interface. Version not working on 10.4.9 is

Thank you for the code. There was a mix-up in the Spam filter. Still. the registration is quite complicated. Otherwise a nice little widget.

Works beautifully - for those of you complaining about the two licences, get a life! - it's only five bucks, and well worth it! I do have a few suggestions, the UI needs a serious facelift - it would be cool if I could see all three auctions simultaneously. I don't care about screen real estate. You also need to show the sellers items (I am sure this will be in 3.2)...Also the yellow doesn't work for me, this widget needs some style! Good job though!!

One word: Hunkajunk. What kind of demo doesn't allow you to actually demo on your own terms? 5 bucks to see an odd numbered auction? I have one computer. Not two. Most people have one computer. Not two. With this kind of "demo", I'd be afraid for 5 bucks i'd get a new message telling me "and for only 5 dollars more, we'll start to display numeric characters". Pffft. One good thing, you managed to help me set a new record for how quickly I could install and then subsequently trash something.

Selling two licenses for $5 even if a user might only need one license is not a smart marketing move. At that price thw widget is too expensive. Also, I sorely miss the feature to snipe auctions, which would more than justify the prize for this - so far - pure eBay listing widget. Moreover, testing the reliability of any app when it works on a 50:50 chance in unregistered mode is simply impossible. There's no money-back guarantee if the widget still does not update properly after registration. Nahh... this one needs to go back to the drawing board.

If you are finding that eBay Watcher won't watch your auctions all the time, you are probably running a demo version and not a full registered version. The demo version is limited to 'even' auction numbers and works on a 50-50 basis. Registering the widget will lift these limitations.

Version 2.1 is not improved. It still doesn't update and loses track of the auctions it is supposed to be tracking.

Hosted on GeoCities - if I were the developer, I'd get a more reliable hosting service. GeoCities is down at the moment - not surprising at all.

Hmm... Doesn't appear to work correctly. The auction ID is valid, and it finds *something* but it looks like the HTML returned is not parsed correctly. This may represent an update to the HTML on eBay's part, or some unforseen logic branch (Auction just started, no bids for mine). I'd love to see this work correctly as it would save my wife HOURS each week.

I am assessing Ebay, the COMPANY and not the Ebay community or the technology that makes online auctions such a convenience for people who want or need to work from home. Ebay has probably the worst customer service policy I have ever encountered. Buyer and seller beware. The company is as personal as a large machine---imagine if you will, HAL from Jules Verne's 2001 Space Odyssey. The machine has all the power and the desire and will of humans are completely obscured. Ebay has an "email only" customer service policy that can take up to 72 hours to address your concerns. From my experiences, their responses required so much back and forth effort that I'm starting to believe that their intended means of resolving issues is to wear down the customer until they give up in defeat. I innocently wandered into Ebay, supplied all my information and then decided to quit on that same journey because of the appalling customer service that I discovered during my set up. Ebay doesn't offer an option to cancel though. And when you email them your desire to do so, it's like stepping on Ebay chewing gum. Your first response is an automatic response that states that they care about your concerns, but it could take up to 72 hours to get back to you. Then, a few days later, you get a response that informs you of the grave consequences of quitting and then, way down on the bottom, states that if you don't respond to that email and restate your request that your original request will be ignored. I responded several times because I got many emails such as this. Each time clearly stating that I really and truly wanted to quit. I'm still a member of Ebay today. So, in brief: one day of cyber weakness I joined Ebay. That same day I changed my mind. That one day has become a month and I'm starting to feel, it will be an eternity. So many other complaints shroud Ebay such as increased fees and unfair practices. So, to all buyers and sellers, it's our stuff--- marketing our goods on the Internet should be governed by us, not a machine. We shouldn't have to be treated like nothing more than pockets to pick. We should be entitled to the same customer service that we have come to expect of all other U.S. companies. So, yank the chord! I urge anyone that is reading this to take a leading role in swaying the internet buying/selling community towards new venues. A company only grows to this enormous size by us, the people that subscribe to their services. A few years ago, it was supply and demand. There weren't that many competitors out there. But today there are. Check out Ebay alternatives such as: www.ubid.com or www.ebid.tv (I think that one is put out by Google) or overstock.com or even auctions.yahoo.com?
