Encouraging Bible veruses screensaver.   Shareware ($2.50)

Words of Encouragement combines "words of encouragement" from the Bible (KJV) with the nature photography of Gavin Anderson. It was inspired by Michael Grothaus' MacHouse Quotes screen saver. I was impressed with how skinny he was able to get his screen saver (black backgrounds take almost no space at all) and talked to him about making a version with Scripture verses. He said it was a "great idea" and that I should go for it, so here it is.

For $2.50 you guys should be ashamed of even bringing up price. Some of the other screensavers are $20. Besides, you have to buy your Bibles too, don't you?

For the Christian mac user, 'Words of Encouragement' makes a great screen saver. The combination of texts and images are very helpful. I would certainly recommend other Christians to use it.

Please don't be so hard on a developer who asks for a reasonable amount for his/her work, for everyone has their bills to pay.

Did Jesus not say to the disciples as they embarked on ministry: "Freely you have received, freely give... for the worker is worth his keep." (Matthew 10:8-10, NIV) Producing Christian software is a ministry too and we should not hesitate to support it.

I warmly recommend it. It will make your day and do as its name suggests, bring you encouragement when you use your Mac.

Thanks. Your words have been "words of encouragement" to me, too. :-)

I would like to publically thank those who have supported this work, both in Shareware fees, and more importantly, in the "words of encouragement" they have given back to me. You have been a blessing to me.

For a skimpy 20 verses of encouragement we should pay you? Since when is God's Word for sale? I agree with the reviewer that the spread of the Gospel and love of Christ should not be a profit-making venture. WE missionaries are offended indeed.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

I will acknowledge the Lord. He is the one who directed me to do this, and He told me that it was a waay that He would use to take care of me, a fatherless child. Nevertheless, there will always be those who accuse and tear down.

Matthew 11:18-19 - "...John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children."

I have been ripped on screen savers I made for free. I have been ripped on screen savers I made to help tsunami victims. I have been ripped on screen savers that I made to help the widow of a coworker. And now I find that I am ripped on this screen saver, too, but only by my fellow Christians. What a novel thing this is!

You are a missionary, and so I have desired to be also. I have studied the Russian language for 13 years and worked as a Russian typsetter, typesetting the Word of God at no charge. I have worked in printing for 20 (from an early age) having run a press for 15 of those years, seeking to print the Word of God in Russia. But always the door has remained closed to me. Although God gave me the desire, and has not removed that desire from my heart, the time is not yet. But let me ask you, missionary, who supports you? Does your church support you, or are you a tent maker, like Paul?

Let me also ask you: Did you buy your Bible, or did you steal it off the shelf in the store? The laborer is worthy of his hire.

People are too easily offended these days...

Nice screensaver. I don't think it should be free JUST because it is religious in nature... however, because it's JUST a screensaver, I will also not be paying $$ for it.

Believe me, I thought long and hard before putting a price on this. For those that are interested, this is the minimum price I was allowed to charge through Kagi. Nevertheless, everyone must do as his own conscience dictates. "Just a screen saver" or not, a lot of work actually went into this.

That's neat. A CHRISTIAN screensaver that costs money. Wow. I thought spreading the love of the Lord was free and meritous in it's own sense. I love Christ with all of my being, yet, find this somewhat offensive. Therefore, I choose not to download this. Just my opinion.
