Tiger comes with the Stickies widget, which is pretty good. However, your Dashboard desktop can soon become cluttered if you have several active Stickies - especially since there are so many great widgets out there that just need to be on your desktop.

Enter Notepad Widget:
  • Notepad widget allows you to have all your notes on one widget, if you so wish.
  • You can have multiple Notepad widgets on your dashboard for different categories, for example, Home and Work.
  • Print your notes

Love the space saving ability it has. I do wish I could resize it, or change the sans comic title font... eau. But aesthetics aside, a great program.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of notepad:
After copying notepad.wdgt file to your
~/Library/Widgets
folder, you must log out and log back in ( or just restart the Dock) before continued use.

Excellent. More versatile than stickies. Just what I needed.

Yes I agree, much better.
All the colors from the website don't work. It would be good to have the whole notepad change color, so that when it's reduced in size, colors still show...
thanks for the cool work

Great changes... obviously took former reviews in consideration.
Not crazy about the set colors and the fact that the pad itself can't change color (classic or notepad only). The idea of getting colors online isn't too bad, but what if nowhere near an internet connection?
All the other features are wonderful...
Keep up the great work!

I like the widget, but it seems to have a bug ... After restarting Dashboard, the widget was gone, and after I threw it back on, it refused to load the saved notes, even though they were still present in the .plist file ... Maybe it's a Dashboard bug - I don't know.

Ensure you copy the Dashboard.wdgt file to your -
~/Library/Widgets
Folder.

I've found that if you try running widgets from outside this folder ( i.e., double clicking to launch ), the Widget won't be reloaded later after reboot, login, dock restart etc.

Great widgets, better than the stickies. BUT I wish I could change colors, fonts& size and above all I wish I could reduce the widget to only see the category, because it is quite big for my 12" screen.

I like this because it has the simplicity of the original Apple Notepad. Some modern Notepad-like substitutes have gotten too feature-bloated for my taste. But I wish I had the ability to bump up font size a bit

Now thats more like it. Apples included Stickie sucks, but this widget rules. Great work. Very intuitive.

kelli Boyles had trouble on 20 Mar 2006
Dear Stewart Hector, Creator of Notepad Widget:

Your "Notepad Widget" caused me to lose all my records and months of writing. Without warning, and without any action by me, the widget suddenly shifted into a state in which only the last 4 Notepad categories added disappeared. That's 4 out of approximately 30, since I had assumed I could trust your claim that the Widget was functional and safe, and since I took seriously the features of the Save, Backup, and Restore functions. Neither viewing the corresponding Notepad files nor eventually choosing "Backup Restore" made it possible to retrieve the data or to return the Notepad to its original state. I must repeat that neither my Mac (a G4 Powerbook), nor I did anything odd, or in fact anything at all, to cause this shift. I literally watched it occur on my desktop without touching the keyboard. Please tell me you have a solution that will restore my invaluable writing and records to me. (Incidentally, I back up my material frequently, but I used your widget so regularly that a vast amount of material had been entered since the my recent hard-drive backup.)
