Display any incomplete ToDo items from any of your iCal calendars.

Overview

R2ToDo is a dashboard widget for Mac OSX Tiger. It communicates with iCal to display any incomplete ToDo items from any of your iCal calendars. Clicking on any ToDo item will open iCal with the complete ToDo item details. R2ToDo even shows your tasks in the color of their corresponding iCal calendars! Note: uses iCal via applescript, so iCal will open and then hide. Perhaps v2.0 will not require iCal to be open, but only if enough people email me.

What's new in R2ToDo

  • speed improvements
  • new interface
  • proper scrollbar as per apple's design guidelines

  • reliability improvements for larger number of ToDos

cool widget. my favorite part is that it keeps ical open even when i close it. this might not sound like a good idea, but it seems the only way to get the da*n icon to show the right date in dock. I also noticed that this app used nearly ALL of my CPU, between 40-90% at any given time. Cool widget, very useful, but unusable until that is changed.

Aam I the only one who notices that this absolutely eats up CPU while running? Its a great app, exactly what I want, but it cannot be eating up 40+% of my CPU for no apparent reason. Keep up the good work, but you have to find a way to fix this.

cool. it's working now but for it to be of any use it really NEEDS to run w/o ical running like icalviewer. if/when it gets this function it would be very nice.... keep up the great work.

Great idea. Cute name. Anyone wanna take bets on how long it takes Lucasfilm Legal to force you to change the name and lose the icon?

i definitely see the icon going, and for good reason... but the name is different enough.

OK, well if iCal is running, the widget works just fine, but of course, if iCal is running, why not look at iCal instead of this widget? If you quit iCal and look at R2ToDo, iCal launches and you can see it launching behind the Dashboard murk. So I retract my earlier review saying it doesn't do what it claims to, but now that I see what it does do, I don't see any advantages over just looking at iCal.

Well, it downloaded and now shows a charcoal grey box in the Dashboard. It's not ugly, but it certainly doesn't do what it claims.

Those with troubles running R2ToDo... is there anything showing up in Console.app? If you bring up the dashboard with R2ToDo installed and iCal closed, does iCal open up in the background? There are a lot of dependencies and since it works fine on my machine it is very difficult to track down the source of errors for some people. If you could please try to find as much information as possible on any errors or your setup (how many calendars in iCal, large or small number of ToDos, etc), then please send it to me. Thanks!
