ClockSaver is a port of the Screensaver-module "KClock" found in the KDE Desktop Environment to Mac OS X. It shows a simple but elegant analog clock where you can customize the colors for the clock hands, the color for the clock scale, whether a second hand should be visible, and the size of the displayed clock.

My favorite screensaver. Only one I use in fact.

Works in Lion, except the clock size is large and cannot be adjusted. I hope it's fixed soon.

Sorry, just noticed the requirement above of 10.6. Didn't see that on the developer's site. That wasn't posted on the developer's site, probably should be.

The 1.0.5 version adds following details:

Version History:

- 1.0.5: Removed transparency and repackaged for Leopard

This screen saver is the best screen saver I've ever used. Now I don't understand the removal of transparency, which was quite helpful. You were able to see whether you've received a notification from Adium, Mail or System itself... Now black screen with clock, this is not good. Thank god 1.0.4 is still available.

I hope the programmer puts this funcionality again.

And in addition to that, Snow Leopard compatibility would be awesome...

Fantastic. Best clock saver out there!

I set the hands to red, the dial to black so all I see are the hands and it looks fantastic.

Does one thing only, but it does that one thing better than any other...

Excellent!

Very nice screensaver - my current default.

IMHO, a very nice addition would be a moon phase window in the 6 or 12:00 positions. Choice of a simple changing moon outline or a traditional analog phase window.

A date field might also be useful.

I know this clutters the simplicity, but I think it could be done elegantly and still look great.

This is a super, ultra simple statement. It verges on being a classic. As Wittgenstein stated "What can be shown cannot be said".

and besides.. monitors can go in powersave mode. a screensaver is more like an eyesaver, a moment of rest for your eyes when your still in front of the screen but just doing something else. that makes this one my number one screensaver above the "donothing" saver.

:-P

Burn in hardly happens on todays monitors, unless you are using a plasma screen, IIRC

I wonder how wise it is for a screensaver to have completely stationary elements, which could potentially cause burn in (i.e., the clock's face is always in the same place).

You're right, as a screen saver in the traditional sense this program isn't going to do a good job. Today's screen savers are more like the "attract mode" of videogames and old '80s home computers. That's why Apple is moving to the term "screen effects".

the menu bar is blaring pure white at the top of your screen far far longer than any screensaver is going to show a static image.

Yeah, the menu bar is always on my screen, and my studio display has white burn in all along the top.

A CRT studio display? that has to be at least 5 years old. In other words, 2 years over the expected life span.

Installed fine under 10.5.6. Attempt to select in Sys Prefs returned error message: "Error: Can't Load Bundle." No way to contact developer on his site.
