Softsqueeze is a music player for your Mac that works with the Slimserver software. It complements the Squeezebox2, Squeezebox and Slimp3 hardware music players developed by Slim Devices. "Squeezebox is the smartest way to stream MP3s and Internet radio to your stereo without loss of sound quality." (Slim Devices). SoftSqueeze is a software implementation of the Squeezebox allowing your Mac to stream the same music as your Squeezebox. Softsqueeze supports synchronization with hardware players and remote streaming over the Internet using SSH tunneling. It has been developed in Java, allowing this useful application to work with Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows.
What's new in Softsqueeze
The autostart threshold is triggered based on bytes read from the decoder buffer. When streaming low bitrate streams the output buffer can become full before the autostart threshold is reached, therefore playback never starts. To fix this the autostart trigger should be based on the bytes written into the decoder buffer, not the bytes read.
