Game simulates the United Nations food aid effort.

Overview

[ Via Apple.com ] A major crisis has developed in the Indian Ocean, on the island of Sheylan. We're sending in a new team to step up the World Food Programme's presence there and help feed millions of hungry people.

An aircraft circles over a crisis zone. War. Drought. People are hungry. This is the virtual world of the Food Force video game.

It represents too many parts our real world, where 852 million people lack enough food to eat and World Food Programme teams deliver food aid using not only airplanes but a fleet of ships and thousands of trucks.

Play the Food Force game, learn about food aid, and help us work towards a world without hunger.

The person that stuck this Mac OS X game in a Classic sea should be fired. I had to manually unstuff the thing, which not only took ages but resulted in an error! If these are the minds behind attempts to feed the world, widespread starvation neither surprises nor engenders much expectation of change.

i haven't run this program yet, but they got a few things wrong. first off, 198 mb?!?!?!? i can download it pretty quickly, but it's still a huge file! second of all, why is it packaged as a .sea file? couldn't they just have made it into a .dmg or a .zip? i guess it must have saved some space, but it will create a lot of problems for some users. that's why i still have the classic os installed on my mac, it comes in handy now and then, especially for some old games.

I downloaded this and processed the file with no issues whatsoever, and I do not have Classic installed on my Mac.

Great for you, but you're doing something unusual. The download *is* a Classic .sea file that requires special handling on most Macs. I burned another 2 hours to grab the 200MB file and it worked this time, but honestly isn't worth it. While possibly educational, as a game there isn't a lot of replay value. Worse, it commits the unforgivable sin of screwing up all my other app's windows when it switching the monitor resolution.

And you could not be more wrong. I had/have nothing 'special' on my iBook, it has never had Classic on it, Stuffit Standard version 8.0.2 processed that downloaded file (albeit slowly, very slowly) and the game launches with no need whatsoever for anything in the nasty old Classic realm. Anyone that can't do the same has, to my mind, something specially wrong with their Mac(s) or their ability to manipulate their Mac(s). To reiterate: I have nothing special, did nothing special. Not in this world or any other. Though generally speaking I do think my Mac is pretty damn special. iBook @ 900 MHz, Mac OS X 10.3.9

We had no problems downloading but it took 23 minutes to unstuff on our dual processor 1 gig machine. I just packaged the .dmg file on a CD for the grandkids. I'll report back when they, the important ones, give a review.

Ignore "Anonymous". He is one unhappy camper. He has posted many angry and self-absorbed reviews all over macupdate. He is never happy and will never be happy. Bored, locked-in-the-house kind of a guy. Ignore "Anonymous".
