VOIP softphone.

Overview

SJphone® is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) softphone that allows you to speak with any other softphone running on PC/PDA, any stand-alone IP-phone or using VOIP service provider with any traditional wired or mobile phone. It supports both SIP and H.323 standards and is fully inter-operable with most major VOIP vendors and Service Providers.

Services and service profiles:

  • You can make direct free calls to your party IP-address, using service "PC-to-PC".
  • For Internet calls and for calls to / from regular telephones, you may purchase a service VOIP provider. You can sign up to several different services and easily switch between them. Install a new service profile, initialize it with your login and password and enjoy!
  • Experienced users may build own IP-telephony network; they can make new service profiles themselves.
  • Our software works with with most ip-PBX, SIP-proxy and H.323 gatekeepers, and Gateways just by adding new service profile.
  • How to use the services behind firewalls, see readme file.

This is a great soft Phone for Mac. Works with Asterisk and my USB handset just great. Also works fine with FreeWorldDialup and surely every other SIP service out there. Supports multiple codecs (GSM, iLIBC, Speex, A-Law/U-Law) and I can even use it to talk to friends on dialup. Every release I have used has been very stable. I used it with my iBook and free wireless internet access in a motel room to speak with my wife while away on business. It performed great and we had a 2 hour phone conversation no trouble. The interface is ugly, but works great. X-Lite (another soft phone) is pretty and crashes all the time. This release finally adds a pretty icon, so perhaps a nicer interface is on it's way soon. :-) SJPhone has been my soft phone of choice for a long time and I highly recommend it. BTW, you can register for a free for personal use license number on SJLab's site.
