Extracts entries from iBlog.

Overview

Agitprop is a Mac OS X application for liberating your blog entries from Lifli Software's iBlog application. iBlog (1.4.x and earlier) does not readily provide any form of export functionality that preserves all of your blog entry information, such as category, posting date, etc. Agitprop was written for the express purpose of migrating all of your blog entry information to the MovableType import file format so it can then be imported into MovableType, Wordpress, etc. Additionally, Agitprop supports the Growl global notification system for Mac OS X, should you have it installed.

I wrote it to migrate my nearly 300 blog entries from iBlog to WordPress 1.2.x and WordPress 1.5. I then used Ecto to tweak the various entries once they were up in the server and things have gone smoothly ever since.

Agitprop is free for your use. Granted, it's not something you'd use often-how many times do you extract data from your iBlog dataset?-but it is free for your use. Of course, any donations or nice comments are always welcome. If you wish to redistribute Agitprop you must first contact me.

What's new in Agitprop

Version 1.0.2:
  • re-activated Growl support with the release of Growl v0.6
  • restored Edit menu, allowing for cut/copy/paste operations within the Preferences/Options sheet
  • added two new notifications, one at each end of the scan of the iBlog folder

With my G5 2x2,5GHz, this software does not open. Damage, because the idea is very interesting.

Can you please send me some information on your system, and, if possible, explain what you mean by "does not open"? Also, try checking the contens of ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Agitprop.crash.log and send the data to me (email address is in the Read Me file that came with the software).
