I haven't tried this app, but the minimalist description makes it sound like a GUI grep. And if I ever decide I want a GUI grep, I think I'll just stick with BBEdit's multiple file search.

Well, it's good to see such a Mac app being developed. (If you want to compare it with similar Windows apps go to www.textpad.com, www.semware.com or www.funduc.com). But all those Win apps cannot tap the power that can be gained from a combination of the BASH and Perl, the latter being the ultimate scripting language for advanced regular expressions (.+? etc.). And for a Perl GUI creating tool see cocoadialog.sf.net.

This application has some promise. The graphics may seem a little flashy, but the utility of 'potions' as either saved regular expressions within the application, or 'droplets' should not be overlooked. Adding your own potion is slightly complex. First you want to show the drawer (potions), then click the arrow so you can brew a new potion. You then want to drag what type of potion (ex: search and replace) over to the right hand side. Once you have a type you will be able to enter your formula. This is slightly more assisted than most people will expect, but it works and is useful. Naming seemed problematic on my system. Saving a potion doesn't automatically add it to your stock potions. I needed to make sure the name was compliant (I'm not sure if this is required, but it worked for me) by having no spaces in it, then drag it into the plugins folder. It may help to name w/o spaces to begin with. I like this endeavor. I think some of the usefulness of the interface is taken over by eye candy, but it is practical once you start using it. Instead of having to have your favorite editor open or making a script you have something that assists you to make a script. A little polish and help (beyond basic regexp) would really make this app shine.

Thank you for your review, we're working hard on next release to be more user-friendly (and less flashy :p )
