Is this better/different than slideSaver Maker (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16196)?

(I'm curious, because I haven't tried either (yet).)

Basically for now that app does the same thing...

it's great, but I'm still looking for a solution which allows me to protect the images so I can put reasonable quality ones in there and know that they won't get extracted from the resources and re-used

Impossible.

DRM is based on the idea that you can give someone an encrypted document, and the decryption key, and prevent him from decrypting it.

It's a fundamentally insoluble problem, unless you can physically embed the decryption software and keys in epoxy.

Not to mention any DRM would have to somehow prevent screenshots like Apple's DVD player is suposed to but there are apps to get around that so this wouldn't be any different.

You can't put resources into public hands & not expect there to be a way people can get at them. Even DRM protected music can be pirated & you've got an entire industry behind that.

I'm guessing it doesn't have to be foolproof, just easier than opening the resource fork and dragging them out
even if the resources are encrypted and the screensaver decodes on the fly it would be better.
Of course, a screen capture app that's set to activate 10 seconds after the screensaver activates would get around it but requires more effort.
DRM sucks, however some clients (professional photographers) would love to be able to demonstrate their work, but not have their property ripped off by web designers who never pay for the images

I know these methods are easily removed as well, but how about adding a regular watermark to the picture, as well as a digital watermark, and placing copyright notices (etc.) in the comments?

I've seen at least one app, somewhere, that you couldn't do a Show Package Contents on. But I don't know what the reason for that is... or if a saver module would 'work' afterward.

This app is not the best solution for your private or commercial contents, if you are a photographer and you want to share your photos maybe you can select some ones an then embed some visible logo on it, or reduce image quality. A demo it's a demo, you aren't forced to put high-quality material on it, just let possible customers get interested on jour work.

What does this do? Automate "copy one of Apple's screensavers and drop the images in the resource folder"?

Simply creates a well-formed ssaver document compatible with the Apple ScreenSaver Engine. Nothing more.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is exactly what I have been looking for! Others charge way too much for this ability!

You guys rock!
