A note for others: don't bother trying to find the app at the "More Information" link. I spent half an hour at that abomination of a site with no luck, so I had to download it just to find out more.
I wish I hadn't.
This can best be described as an application for the chronically lazy. It's quite possibly the ugliest and most sloppily programmed application I've had the misfortune to run across since MacUpdate started.
Basic AIM functions include setting away messages, adding buddies (the singular of which is "buddy," in case the "developer" "reads" this) to your buddy list, and joining chat rooms.
There is also a ping/tracert utility, and a Google search.
E-mail and IM buttons at the bottom of the window switch to your e-mail client (with a new message to the "developer") and AIM client, respectively. A large "Preferences" button at the top does nothing but switch to my AIM application. (I use Adium; this probably opens the prefs for AOL IM if you're one of the five people still using that piece of junk on the Mac.)
So yeah. Don't bother.
Unless you're chronically lazy.
Hey, MacUpdate won't rat you out...
