On a Diet? CrystalFire Diet Allowance can help! Diet Allowance works differently from other diet tracking aids. Rather than just keeping track of calories consumed, Diet Allowance provides you with a continually-increasing "allowance" of calories, at a rate you specify. So you can always answer the question: "What am I able to eat right now?" Just tell Diet Allowance as you consume calories, and it will do the rest!

This program now runs but it is conceptually flawed.

1. It tracks only one aspect of a diet.
2. If tracking calories, it provides NO help in assessing how many calories a given food item or meal might contain. So if you think that piece of cake contains only 20 calories, go ahead and enter that. Then another 10 for that Big Mac. By the end of the day, you will have gained 5 lbs, but only eaten 200 calories!
3. There is no record of what you have consumed, only a running total.
4. Why would anyone pay for the pro version if it offers so little else?
It gets a middling rating only because it costs nothing to find out all the above.
nb: this is my first negative review of a program ever

I'm not going to rate this program on technical merit, but as someone who has someone close to them with an eating disorder, I urge you not to focus on dieting in order to maintain or reduce weight.

Eat good foods like fresh fruit, meat, dairy, etc. (not junk foods!) and exercise regularly. Diets can and do lead to obsessive behaviour, and I've personally seen them lead to anorexia and bulimia.

Please think twice before employing any practice or ideals that are going to cause you to think about how much you eat - if you need to think about something, think about _what_ you're about to eat.

Yep, sorry about that, everyone. Diet Allowance was dependent on a peculiarity of the machine used for testing, so it would run, basically, only for us!

Our testing processes have been adjusted to prevent this problem in the future, and a new version 1.0.1 is available that actually runs on all OS X 10.3 systems. Again, we apologize for the error, and hope you'll try Diet Allowance again.

So you can always answer the question: "What am I able to eat right now?" Just tell Diet Allowance as you consume calories, and it will do the rest!

Diet Allowance isn't just for calorie counting. Use it to track carbs, Weight Watcher's points (a trademark of Weight Watchers), minutes of exercise, hours of work or studying, or anything else that you want to limit or require a specific amount of each day.

CrystalFire Diet Allowance is available in two versions. CrystalFire Diet Allowance Lite is available completely free, and tracks a single diet. This is not a shareware program; it's completely free: use it as long as you like!

You can purchase an upgrade key for CrystalFire Diet Allowance Pro for $29. This converts the Free version into the Pro version, and adds several features.
