Overview

PictureSync is a convenient utility that simplifies annotating and uploading images and movies to online galleries and photo-sharing services, whilst preserving your valuable metadata.

PictureSync features an integrated (IPTC/XMP) annotation editor searchable in Spotlight. With one click you can use PictureSync to upload from iPhoto, MediaPro/Expression Media, Lightroom and Aperture, or simply using drag-and-drop from the Finder. Supported services include Facebook, Flickr, Fotki, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket, Shutterfly, Smugmug, Webshots, and Gallery 2.

Other features include geocoding integration with Google Earth, colour conversion to sRGB for better online reproduction, resizing for faster uploads, auto-rotation, metadata customisation and rules, duplicate prevention, and direct support for service specific-features such as albums and tagging.

Got this from a bundle recently (can't remember if it was here or at MacZot) and since then I was not able to activate it... Have send email to developer but no answer yet... Oh, it's been "just" a week or so... I guess I'll just wait... Talk about money well spent!!! Also, I bought this EXCLUSIVELY for using with Aperture and now it seems that I need to purchase the Pro version for such functionality... Clearly that was not explicit in the promo... Buyers beware...

I downloaded the Picturesync 1.8r18 install package and attempted to install it on my MacBook Pro (2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo with OS X version 10.5.8). I received this message: "You canot use this version of the application PictureSync with this version of Mac OS X." I tried it 4 times with the same result each time.

"Tweak: support for Aperture removed" Since when is removing a major feature a "tweak." The reason I purchased this product was specifically for its Aperture support. This would be like McDonalds saying Big Mac, tweek, beef removed. Dev: please don't make a cut and imply your product is now better.

seems to have stopped replying to emails for support, and by god you'll need support pretty regularly if your experience is anything like mine. maybe he's hibernating. He'll be up soon. T'ill then maybe hold off on chucking your money at this one.

Webshots is recommened using this software. I've downloaded this program from Webshots, however it lacks any documention of how to use. Why do they assume that everyone knows how to use it? You do know what "assume" does. It makes an ass of u and me.

I was a little miffed to find out the recent update prevents me from using the application on both my computers. Even Microsoft allows me to do that! While I understand the authors need to prevent widespread abuse, there needs to be a little more flexibility for those people who actually bothered to pay the registration fee, or at least a special price for those of us who have more than one computer in the house.

This is by far the best uploader I have found. The simplicity with which this application communicates between iPhoto and the website is IMHO unmatched. The author is also very responsive to requests and added a company I use (ClubPhoto) to the list. At that point, I paid my registration fee and we have been uploading happily ever after. I think $14 is good value, but there is little to compare to. I have dabbled with application development myself, and failed, so I have a healthy appreciation for the need to pay shareware fees.

Boo! It auto watermarks 'PictureSync' in demo mode. That wouldn't be bad but it doesn't tell you that until AFTER you have uploaded your pictures. There is also no easy way to cancel an upload once it begins.

Great idea. It would be wonderful to upload to photostack.org or other web gallery solutions.

Seems not to work with iPhoto; I have all my photos there but the app keeps asking me to locate iView every time it starts. I change the preferences to iPhoto and I give my Flikr account, but then nothing happens; moreover everything is lost when the application quits, so keeps asking for iView and my Flikr account has to be typed again ... Am I missing something?
