Seems to work well here (10.2). But I have one question: what command are you using for "finger"? It's showing some guy who I've never heard of, who has never logged in.
Looks handy. Couple of comments:
1. Should be able to pick other logfiles (console.log in particular).
2. Logfiles should be 'tail -f'ed or equivalent.

The "finger" uility should reference the short name of the currently logged in user. You may not recognize the short name of your user. I don't believe that you will register as "logged in" if you have never opened a terminal session in Mac OS X (using the program "Terminal" at "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal" on your hard drive. I would not worry.
