Combine iCal and iTunes for a music alarm.

Overview

iCal-iT Just Music Alarm is a stay-open script that teams up iCal and iTunes to create a music alarm.

What's new in iCal-iT Just Music Alarm

Version 1.6.5:
  • Quick update restores time arithmetic to old working version. There was nothing wrong with it. However, users must keep in mind that iCal displays time in GMT upon rescheduling events. Therefore, there was no need to revise the time arithmetic.
  • Error handler was also added to take care of cases when users do not input any preferred snooze time. All other major features, such as dynamic snooze, playlist selection and multiple playlist inputs were brought forward from the previous version.
  • Check the ReadMe document for details.

For the early downloaders of this script, the Sleep-Wake Up Alarm would not function because I mistakenly supplied a wrong event name. Please download a quick corrected update (v. 1.1.1) coming your way within the next few hours. Thank you.

Please be informed that I had this script pulled out of the post at ScriptBuilders because of bugs I could not get around with. Until such time that the script is truly working to perfection, no such new posts will be uploaded of this script. Sorry and I apologize to those who have been inconvenienced.

iCal is really very pesky indeed! This script still does not properly do the reschedule event as I expect it to. I advise that no further download of this script be done until I am able to work this out, one way or another. Major fix now under thorough testing.

Apologies abound! I am wrong again. I revised the time arithmetic to correct for wrong time display in iCal. As it turned out, the iCal display shows the correct time in GMT and does not need any time adjustment. I will post a quick update in the next few days to restore the old time arithmetic..nothing wrong with it except that the time displayed in iCal after rescheduling event is in GMT, not in local time. The quick update will also include additional error handlers that I find essential to have. Stay tuned.

Users must have noticed already that the pseudo-recurring trick to automate the alarm does not work. The problem is not with the script. Rather, iCal's reschedule event command has a nasty bug. I will post an update shortly that takes care of this bug and also accounts for the time used in snoozing. The update version will allow full automation of the music alarm and will have the playlist selection option restored at without compromising the alarm automation.

Another apology is in order here. I just found out that this script doesn't quite work with recurring events in iCal. iCal does not seem to make searchable any recurring event for the day even if it is still a valid event...thus, the script cannot pick up that valid event to process. I am currently working on a fix. Thank you for your patience.
