Adobe Contribute enables content authors to quickly and easily update existing websites and blogs while maintaining site integrity - with no technical expertise required. Thanks to a true WYSIWYG authoring environment, content authors and contributors can edit or update any website or blog without having to learn HTML.
What's New
Version 6.5.0.4360:
  • HTML5 Support: Convert your html doctype to HTML5 to enable it to publish to various mobile devices. Design view support for HTML5
  • Predefined content types: Create new pages quickly based on existing design templates and page functionality. Set the workflow to hold new pages for review or to have them go live instantly. Set automatic expiration dates for new content.
  • XML editing: Edit site-associated XML content natively, without having to leave Contribute and open an XML editor. Easily update Spry data sets and other pages that render content from dynamic XML-based sites by editing the corresponding XML file.
  • Cross-browser preview: Verify the look and feel of updated pages in multiple browsers. Preview edited pages in any installed browser. Windows(R) users can view three browsers simultaneously with synchronous navigation and crawling for side-by-side comparison.
  • Spry widget editing: Edit any content contained in a variety of Spry widgets, including data within accordion, tabbed, and collapsible panels. Change properties such as panel transition animation effects.
  • Multiple page search and replace: Use the enhanced search and replace capability to update information on multiple open draft pages. Streamline the update process by performing a previously tedious task in minutes.
  • Subversion support: Roll back pages to previously archived files using the built-in Contribute rollback feature or Subversion(R) software, which is supported by Contribute CS5.
  • Image hotspot support: Create multiple links to different parts of a single image with integrated WYSIWYG hotspot support. Draw one or more hotspots onto any image, and then add alternative text and URLs for immediate interactivity.
  • SWF or FLV embedding: Insert SWF or FLV files, and Contribute creates web standards - compliant code, compatible with that created in Adobe Dreamweaver(R) software. This helps ensure that content is Adobe Flash(R) Player compatible while enabling drag-and-drop authoring in Contribute.
  • Server Side includes file editing: Allow authors to edit Server Side Includes (SSI) files. Authors can choose SSI files from a list, without needing to know the file path. Modify HTML content in the SSI file with Contribute.
  • Text and image enhancements: Create superscript and subscript text directly in Contribute. Rescale, rotate, crop, and sharpen images, and adjust their brightness and contrast. Changes are displayed accurately with enhanced CSS rendering.

Why do I have to download a 32 mb application to then download the app?!? Terrible software, though the actual application can be quite useful for simple edits on current sites that don't require full blown dreamweaver or coding.

Even if not free like other cms Software (which I have to admit are superior in most aspects), Contribute is the easiest way to let somebody work with your Dreamweaver layouted sites/pages.

Visit the developer's site link above to see that Adobe DOES NOT change. This is yet another product in which the Mac version does not have (significant) features provided the Windows version, and yet gets charged the same price. Pathetic!

Adobe simply is the worst developer of Mac software out there now!

I have Contribute 3 and have not used it for ages since iWeb and Rapid Weaver. I am not too bothered about chest beating 'not proper web editor' comments, i want fast 'n' easy. But these two seem to run rings round Contribute, specially if you don't use MS apps (on C3 the MS component won't work on Mac).
40 quid for an upgrade which, even by the blurb on the Adobe website, seems not a lot different to C3.
An upgrade to C4 would seem to be a means to fleece the suits. Why does the Adobe website not say what extra I get for my dollars? All very strange.

With MS, you mean Microsoft or Macromedia?

Comparing Contribute to iWeb and RapidWeaver doesn't make any sense as they serve different purposes.

Contribute is designed to allow novice users to make routine changes and updates to websites (including existing ones). It's esssentially a scaled-down version of Dreamweaver that isolates less technical users from the complexities of HTML source, CSS, etc...

iWeb and RapidWeaver, however, are tools which allow websies to created from the ground up using supplied templates. Contribute does include some basic templates which can be used to create a website from scratch, but this is not the main selling feature of the application.

I hope this helps to clarify any confusion.

Love it! Adobe's answer to Apple "threatening" Photoshop with Aperture is to threaten iWeb?

Not really threatening iWeb since Contribute has been around for a while. Contribute and iWeb fill two different niches.

Why would even bother updating this application if it isn't universal yet? We want UNIVERSAL applications. Adobe should know better.

Adobe money grab!

I see absolutely nothing here to justify paying for an upgrade. I'll wait for the Creative Suite 3 w/ Univ Binary versions on these apps.

Adobe has become such a pathetic Mac developer. Everyone keeps thinking Adobe is dragging their feet in switching to the Univ Bin software when, folks, it's really all about waiting on Vista to ship. Creative Suite 3 is geared towards Vista users, not Leopard/Mactels!

Repeat... ADOBE MONEY GRAB!!
