I do not recommend this software at all. At first it was great for Mac Users but these guys are greedy, they started to charge fro every update. Now! They are doing a monthly subscriptions. Not worth it to pay so much. its unfair what they have done to users who have used this for many years.

Greedy. used to love it, but as an infrequent user, I now find that every time I go to use it there's a paid upgrade. Also it keeps falling out of sync with my listings. Sick of it, and won't use it any longer.

I have been using Garagesale for a long, long time. Maybe since 2010? Great in the beginning and I had no problem paying for upgrades. but I feel as time went on the developer got greedier. Added costs starting coming in everywhere. First with templates, then with their image server. Finally, even with a paid upgrade you can only list 50 items per month, then you need the subscription to list more. Unfortunately with every upgrade the app got sloppier and more buggy and the UI is a complete mess. Given that creating your item listings has become more standard on Ebay, there is less need than ever for this app. Save the hard work and dont bother with Garagesale, you're better off listing directly to Ebay.

Used this software for years, paid for licenses twice over that time and bought templates that I then spent days customising html, hosting banners etc and ironing out optimisation issues on different devices. After my Mbp frazzled with a logicboard failure this week I've had to think long and hard about if I want to use a mac or windows, the only reason to go mac would be familiarity with the process of importing photos --> editing --> listing software --> ebay sales. I was just about to buy a 2020 MBP 13" when I realised GS have changed their pricing again! I'm ok supporting them as a company but having only 50 listings in my uptodate license I bought for GS7 is not enough. I have a personal store that gives me 100 free listings regularly for a £1 and now that option is gone unless I pay out to GS each month too. So I guess it's time to switch back to windows and go 3DSellers based on monthly sales - it's a shame and I'm losing a ton of work but what option do I have?

I've sold on eBay since '99 or so, and used GarageSale since Version 1. They've always been petulant and truculent to deal with but the latest version reached back to 2015 to fill in the wrong data, post that I was offering free shipping on a couple 50lb surplus items and used an address for Paypal that I haven't had access to for four years. I've spent three hours on the phone with eBay trying to straighten things out and have had to cancel half my auctions because they were set up entirely wrong. Sure - user error... but when you hide things behind submenus of submenus of submenus and the software tells you "everything's fine" at some point you have to acknowledge that it's the UI's fault.

Terrible. It has got worse and worse to the point I have had to revert to uploading directly to eBay. Each so-called update has made it worse in the last year, reintroducing glitches that were fixed in previous versions. Version 8 is a waste of money and time.

Always used to LOVE GS, but these days it has more glitches than it's worth. I spend more time trying to get it working than I do creating listings. Much simpler/quicker to list directly from the ebay site. Never thought I'd say that, but I've spent 1/2 day creating listings on GS only to find that there's now a glitch with the upload & looks like I'll have to list them all via ebay after all :(

I agree 100% with reyrobles28. It was a great program, but now it's not worth the new pricing strategy. Nothing in Version 8.0 is worth the new higher price.

As another reviewer has said, it was great when first released, but now is an absolute pain as they do not update their shipping data when e-bay changes their optionds (which is quite often for Australia). I don't think it is worth it for the casual user. I've been using it for many years, and I note their latest version 8 is not backwards compatible for earlier versions of OSX. I've been using Garage Sale for years, but I won't be upgrading again.

Boy did they screw up! At the point I am forced to use 8... I will no longer use GarageSale anymore. They are being greedy and over pricing with a subscription plan for over 50 listings. That’s just wrong and they don’t have to go to that rip-off route. GARAGESALE IS NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE! GarageSale owners... We are NOT FOOLS to fall for this rip-off scheme. There are plenty of other options out there for us Mac users, including using windows apps on Mac in Boot Camp or Parallels. OH and by the way your program is very buggy and not worth it for semi professionals to rely on no less big time professional ebayers. We only use it for crap listings because it’s so buggy and many of the features don’t work like they used to before 7. It’s like they got lazying coding the rest of the program and never finished in 7. for example the FIND AND REPLACE! feature is greyed out in 7 and was never finished with code in 7. This 8 version is the straw for me. I am done. If there is a will there is a way to find alternative tools to list for a reasonable price or free.

I have been on eBay a long time. I do not do this for a business, I just sell my own things as I change my collections and such around. That or I sell things for friends and give them the money for them. I have used Garage Sale for quite some time. I have Version 7.0.17b2 (851). I use a Mac. As things set now with it, I would stay away from this program. My view since the new updates what was a fairly decent program before, now is not. It took a very good down hill turn for the worst. In the past I would recommend this program, however now I would suggest you stay away from it. It was never the fastest, and there is a learning curve with it, but now. No. Yes it has some nice features, however the new version down load, just for me is uneventful and a big slow down. There is a bug with this version. More accurately put there are more than one bug you may run into, but I will tell you about the most annoying one. You can get your whole listing set up on Garage Sale. You have downloaded the photos in your photo's section on your computer for the item you wish to sell.. Now using the garage sale program you go up and hit "load photos". It takes you over to where your photo's are. The problem is it does not "see" the most recently uploaded photos on your computer. Yet they are there in plain view on your computer. Even by going up and hit the refresh button under photo section on Garage Sale they do not show up to upload to Garage Sale. The only way Garage Sale will "see your photos" is if you go and sign out of Garage Sale totally and sign back in. Then you can go to photos and "poof" they will be there. Can you see how this will slow you down? I just quit using is. Neither hitting the download/refresh click under Photo's on Garage Sale, nor going up to the very top and hitting the refresh button (which seldom if ever works by the way), does not help. I have emailed their support countless times on a several different bugs on this and they do respond and work to fix it but this is still unfixed. The last email basically said, this is an issue they have run into and so has several users and the only remedy for it is to just sign out and back in each time if you want to load them. Well that is time consuming, annoying and non productive. In fact it is so annoying I am not using Garage Sale much if at all any anymore. I have tried the eBay phone app which is slick but does not a simple way to put in terms and conditions as I type faster than I text. It would be nice if it had a section where you can type in reoccurring terms and conditions and have them post on every listing automatically. Then hands down the eBay app would be the fastest and slickest way to list and a lot faster than Garage Sale even when it was working the way it should. I am using the eBay computer program for listing now. It is simple to cut and paste my reoccurring terms and conditions. If you factor in everything with the bugs on Garage Sale, to me the eBay listing tool works just as good and faster than Garage Sale. I am just a user that has used Garage Sale for a long time, I have no vested interest in any other listing software program. Just giving my unbiased view of it. I have mailed eBay a letter explaining two things I would like to see on their phone app. If they do this, I will use their phone app hands down. For now i will not. As for investing in Garage Sale, based on the current bugs I have had with it, I would not invest the money in it. When it worked flawlessly I would have given it a four. Now I can only rate it a one.

I am a long time eBayer (since 96), but just started using GarageSale this year. This software is amazing. I have saved so much time listing through GS. I get compliments on my professional templates and listings. For the amount of functionality in this product, you simply can't go wrong. I've read some of the other reviews here and I simply don't understand where they are coming from. Its really not that hard to use and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I was a long term users of GS and seller on eBay since 1999. I stop listing items on eBay for just over a year due to disputes with eBay over its illegal billings practices. I decided to try the site once again only to discover that version 6 of GS no longer listed items. I upgraded to version 7 at a cost of $19.95. I frankly hated the decision of the company behind GS to adopt Apple's new flat OS appearance within version 7! Much more importantly I found a major flaw with the program within a few minutes of using it. Many categories on eBay now require a minimum number of attributes. If you list an item within one of these categories and verify your listing you will receive an error message that your item is missing attributes. To fix this you must click the "Attributes" field under the listing's Options tab. When you do this you are presented with a long list of eBay's suggested attributes. In most cases only one or two are required by eBay so you can dismiss the rest by clicking a small minus symbol (-) by each one and leaving the remaining attributes at their default values. Having to constantly dismiss these unwanted attributes was going to be wasting many hours of my time so I brought this to the attention of the GS development team. It was obvious to me that GS7 knew the difference between those attributes which were required and those which were not required so why not add a preference to GS7 to not to show the non required attributes. This would save having to constantly dismiss the unwanted attributes with each new listing. I was then asked by the development team to join the beta testing for version 8. It was also at this time the development team disclosed to me their new pricing model for version 8. Users will only be permitted to list 50 free listings per month. If you list more than that you need to buy a subscription for $14.99 a month. I find it utterly dishonest of the company to not disclose this fact on their site and continue selling version 7. This information is only discussed in their special version 8 forum which only accessible by invitation. The development team claims they need to charge a monthly fee due to the lack of sales with previous versions. Upon using version 8 beta what did I find? I found they had implemented my suggestion under Preferences > eBay > Advanced > Attributes Panel. One can now choose: Insert suggested attributes; Insert required attributes; or Leave blank. I complained within their special beta 8 forum which can't be seen by the general public. I complained about the team not fixing this obvious major flaw in the two years version 7 has been out. I complained about the new pricing model. I complained that the company choose to call this major bug fix a new feature in GS8 instead of fixing GS7. I received a reply from another user within the forum stating that I was mistaken because I had not taken enough time to evaluate the product. That can't be true because they added my suggestion to GS8 within days. The other poster said there was nothing wrong with version 7 and its great. That can't be true because the company claims they must now charge a subscription fee because their upgrades and new purchases no longer make them enough money. I was told I was using the program wrong as the other poster had never encountered this problem with attributes. If this other poster was listing on the U.S. site then that can't be true and is a lie. If the other poster was listing on a eBay site in another country that does not require attributes then the other poster is not qualified to issue an opinion on the matter. I was told there is nothing wrong with the new pricing model as it works great for the other poster's store. A store is a waste of money as it requires a monthly fee plus now an added monthly fee for using GS8. A store requires one to constantly monitor sales and stop what they are doing to pack and ship items. I like my long term business model much better as its far cheaper and far more efficient. Construct items within GS and list the standard 50 items per month without insertion fees. Wait to list the rest during one of eBay's free insertion days. I pay no insertion fees and no store fees. All items are completed within 7 to 10 days and shipped out within 1 or 2 days and I am free to use my time for other things. I got banned for calling the other poster "incompetent". Talk about being a poster child for the snowflake movement. That is exactly what the poster is. He or she lacks the knowledge, experience, skills to properly issue opinions on any of the subjects he or she addressed and/or he or she is a liar. Version 7 has been out for 2 years and this major flaw was not fixed, wasting thousands of man hours. That os incompetence at its highest level! I previously told the development team that eBay was intentionally lackey users for Gallery Plus fees that they did not order and then blaming GarageSale. There has never been a documented case of this happening. If this had been the case then eBay can easily ban GS from interacting with its API. The development team said there was nothing wrong with GS but said this eBay practice was just part of the cost of doing business with eBay. No, its fraud on a massive scale which has now been forwarded to the FTC. Unfortunately the development team appears to be going down the dark side and has become a eBay lackey willing to dismiss any of eBay's wrong doings, even when eBay lies about GS.

I bought GarageSale back in 2005 and now have bought a paid update for the second time. So I already spent some bucks on this software. But after upgrading to the version 7 I had to realise that all my saved templates and auctions from the past 12 years had vanished without a trace! In the update notes there was nothing about an incompatibility between the databases of past versions to the recent version. I didn't get a warning that my templates would be erased, they were just gone without notice! I emailed the support and asked whether I can retrieve my database or if it is gone for good, but they didn't even bother to answer me! That is no way how to treat a recurrent customer! Aside from that the interface has become more and more unclear from update to update. What used to be a slim and handy tool to upload lots of auctions to eBay has become a unnecessarily blown up piece of software with many useless functions and a mediocre user interface. Too bad! I really can't recommend that software anymore. This was the last time I bought an upgrade for this software!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Everything has moved. WHY? My fonts have changed. WHY? The colours are bland and nothing stands out. Can't tell the difference between what's on-line, what's sold, what's not uploaded yet. WHY? And I can't get anything to upload. Well done! You've meddled with something that was working well, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT! I'd love to know how that meeting went, when you decided "Hey, lets change the colours, move stuff around... lets make our users learn EVERYTHING again!" You fucking bellends. Congratulations. I'm no longer a user. This program is going in the trash.

I can't say anything nice about it. Error messages appear yet the help section can't answer them. The interface is appalling. I wish iSale was still about. Just wasted a whole Sunday evening trying to list some products using this rubbish. Been a Mac user for 30 years and this has to be one of the least intuitive bits of software available.

do not like new version at all, completely unintuitive, the developer seems to follow Apple action of changing things for the sake of changing and alienating the many customers who are used to the software. I can not see any benefits of the new design rather the opposite can't find simple functions anymore

So far this version (6.9.1) seems quite stable. Good tracking and flexible templates, good pre-flight checks, I see no reason not to endorse it as a worthwhile investment. I had to sell off all of my Canon photo gear and successfully listed over 3,000 with EBay using this program. Get's my recommendation.

I'm not a professional eBay seller by any means and hadn't sold anything for years but recently I decided it was time to clear out a lot of old photo gear that is no longer in use and when I logged into eBay I was mildly horrified at how much the layout had changed. It just wasn't a place where I wanted to spend a lot of time. I remembered GarageSale so I decided to give it a test run and found that I liked it. Much like any new software there is a bit of a learning curve but the ability to verify costs and check for errors before going live makes it all pretty foolproof and it definitely enables you to produce a far better looking auction. If you plan to sell several items, GarageSale makes everything much faster and you can use their hosting for images, which will also save money. In truth I would have been fine with the basic version but for a few extra dollars I have something with more advanced options if I choose to get more involved with eBay. One small observation is that I bought my copy from the Apple App Store but if I was doing this again I'd buy direct from the developers because you get faster access to updates and the template store if needed. So far I have sold three items and all of them have gone for more money than I was expecting, so it seems likely GarageSale has already paid for itself.

Frustrated by a "feature" on postage. An auction finished 2 weeks ago with the buyer being in the russian federation. I only ship within Europe. To exclude buyers you now have to specify which countries you ship to (seems obvious). Then select exclude option of countries you dont ship to (tick box in preferences). Then (in my case) select over 200 countries I want excluded. Surly the option should be if you say what countries you will ship too all other countries are excluded automatically. That would make sense (please ) --- See my other comments about error 204 below in reply to someone else's on this.

I've been a long time user of GarageSale and have very few complaints. It creates attractive listings. It's GUI, while certainly not perfect is still pretty darn good. As for the price and paid upgrades, there have been numerous updates to version 6 that are free. There is no paid upgrade every month or few months. I'm note sure what the issue is. The included image hosting, without having to pay Ebay or get tangled up with unreliable or pricey image hosting services ends up paying for itself alone, IMO. What's better on the Mac that does a better job? I don't think there is anything. So, I've rated the app a little higher to help offset some of the harsh ratings. FYI, I've never had a "204" error that I can recall. I have had a glitch or two, but the Dev seems to be working on improving the overall stability. So, I'm still a satisfied customer.

Continued "204" error codes have degraded this product to the point of useless. You can spent an hour designing a beautiful auction only to push the 'start your auction' button and end up with a "204" error code and no matter what you do, you can't get it to work. End result, you end up going directly to eBay and using their built-in templates and that, dear friends, defeats the whole purpose of 'beautiful' auctions and sends the cost of your GarageSale purpose down the drain. Fix it developers. I won't use this product again until you do.

From time to time i need to set up a nice looking auction on ebay for macintosh computer hardware. Garage Sale provides nice looking templates and makes entering information a pleasure. Where it fails lots of times is on uploading and starting the auction succesfully. When i get an Error like 240 which seems to come from ebay according to unsupported product subscription, there`s no help to track the error down. And most of the time i can start the auction successfully with the identical description and words via the ebay web interface. which keeps me thinking about hidden problems in the software. could be great. but i wasted hours of time with it.

WOW! I am so excited. GarageSale has come a long way. I have been using GarageSale 6.3 for over a month now and I am so trilled with it. GarageSale does everything any Ebay online service does and best of all No monthly service charge....WAHOO, HIP-HIP-HURRAY! I am doing the happy dance, LOL! It's sooooo easy to drag and drop images into templates or use html. The images automatically transfer to a holding service of your choice. You can use free image services for this like PhotoBucket by pointing to the ftp address or use GarageSale image services or use your own website service for holding images in a folder. Once you set the image holding tank address up, GarageSale does the rest automatically without even thinking about it. As for the reviewers below about auto update and charging... I don't see that problem because there is a preference for clicking On or Off for auto update. Just uncheck it so it's off. Even if you have to pay once a yr for a upgrade that's your decision, it's still worth it. Hey they are working hard over there why not credit them the little that they ask for. Ebay listing services charge much more by the year which I could not stand to pay that monthly charge. It's bad enough ebay charges so much. Having complete control over my listings and images on my computer is soooo nice! and soooo EASY! and soooo FAST! LOVE IT!

It is the easiest and most intuitive of the listing programs and is the most comprehensive allowing you to do everything from GarageSale so you don't even have to go to the eBay website. The tech support is excellent which is a definite pro. There is also a great Yahoo group forum of friendly GarageSale users for exchanging ideas and generally helping each other. GarageSale has saved me a lot of time, energy, and sanity!

I've never had any problems with the updates. There's upgrade pricing for previous owners. The model is really no different than Apple's themselves. It's pretty good software that makes nice looking Ebay auction listings. Is it overpriced? Yeah, probably is but the cost spread out over years is insignificant.

Garage Sale is a quite useful tool, but their upgrade policy is unacceptable considering the pace of new releases. Most of them don’t even add useful features, it seems to me like the developers bump the version number to cash in again. If you buy this, expect to pay for it again every 9 months or so. I’m not using the application nearly enough to justify spending so much money it and regret purchasing it in the first place, it’s a shame really.

Lousy pricing policies and sneaky upgrade policies. I took my business elsewhere. Buy it today and they will charge you again soon?!? Bad business model, bad company.

The auto hidden update feature was the killer for me. Also the app itself was starting to flake out.Would not transfer the auction correctly to ebay or not accept information entered into auction windows. This was a good app a few versions ago but now it is a piece of crap!

Great OSX ebay app. Very usefull for tracking your bits. One downside though .. ... it is very expensive. I would recommend it if it was about $15.

I paid for this app some years ago. Since then, they have had 2 'major' upgrades, so they say. This software has many, many major flaws, but the most annoying one, is when it tries to TRICK you unti the update. The first time I was tricked, it installed itself, updates all my auction templates and auctions in the queue, and I was basically forced to pay for the upgrade unless I wanted to reword all the auctions in this painful application. I wrote to them and told them. they apologize.... but NEVER FIXED IT. I still click "NO, I don't want to pay ANOTHER $30," and the dialog ignores me and lures me toward the auto-update. NO THANKS. I don't have time to add more details. you have been warned.

Best Mac App for your Ebay needs by far! Caveat - I never made the paid upgrade to V6 as I only list a few itmes a month at best. Meanwhile seems to me like feature creep aka bloat has set in, but I guess they figured their market was people who try to live off ebay rather than average user. I guess this mirrors the crummy ebay strategy itself - more business angle, less hobbyist angle. You can't complain about support - they have a mailing list and are very responsive. Most 'problems/complaints' using it are often confusion implementing trickier features of the app, again a result of developer decision to forge ahead by adding more. They left me behind by requiring paid upgrade - but I still love the app and use it weekly to making a handful of ebay listings. If you do that or more this is a good initial purchase.

Yeah, I have had enough with this software. I have tried to support it, but EVERY time I go to list on eBay, I get ridiculous errors from eBay. They NEVER answer emails. I've just gone to list some items for my son. The program opens with a menu only and I can not see ANY of my previous auction templates or ANYTHING! I've tried running the App dozens of times and tried rebooting 4 times. It's now 100% useless to me and I have NEVER got value from it!

It has been a few months since ebay announced it would require sellers who list on ebay.com and ship from outside the US to use "Shipping from outside the US" when selecting a shipping service. GarageSale still has not added express, standard, and economy shipping from outside the US. In other words, if you ship from outside the US and list on ebay.com, every listing you make with GarageSale will need to be revised.

I have read all the recent posts and feel that some Mac users are either spoiled or just prefer stuff for free. Having come from the land of Microsoft where everything costs an absolute fortune to purchases I had no problems handing over my $40 (actually more because I am from Australia). When Version 6 was released, I tested it for a while and paid my massive $19.00 upgrade fee. Honestly people, this is a great piece of software that allows for the creation of fantastic looking eBay listings. If you are only listing one item then creating a template and then listing can seem like the long way around. What I did though is to create a template for the type of auction I was setting up such as a DVD, CD, Book, a particular Author, etc. With everything in this base template, I just duplicate it, add the specific details and start the auction. What I have saved in eBay fees by not having to host images with them and using their scheduler has paid for GarageSale. Like a previous poster, I too am a software engineer and the amount of effort involved in writing and maintaining software is monumental. I have had prompt and accurate technical support so no complaints about that from me. I am just about to create an eBay store and see how GarageSale works for that. It should be easier because I can preload inventory items. When you trial a piece of software, give it a good try before giving up. Don't just open the software and say "This looks like crap". close and delete it. Every new application requires learning and sometimes that means learning a new metaphor. Regards Lawrie
