Presentation tool.

Overview

Osmose is a tool to prepare multimedia presentations. It is a free software distributed under the GPL license. It is written in Java and has been tested under Mac OS X (Panther and Tiger) with Java 1.4.2. Osmose allows you to print the presentations and to visualize them on the screen and on the Web in HTML (under Mac OS X, it is also easy to create PDF files from your presentations).

Osmose is based on a research work that proposes a new way to create digital documents. We invite everyone to leave the WYSIWYG mode to a more complete way of working, that articulates: working on the content, adding multimedia files, and working on the style using a graphic theme.

Tried it and it seems to have some real potential for building slides in a different way then other slide presentation apps. However, it froze when I tried to open (import) an image to work with. Locked up completely, had to force quit...so I have removed it...though I will keep an eye on its development.

With respect. This is most certainly a program written for Windows. The menu bar is unused. Instead, menu items are in the program window as you would expect in Windows. The help button does nothing and so with a total lack of instructions I had no clue. System stuttered until Osmose was purged. Program would need to be rewritten from the ground up to be useful. The developer has not considered the Mac interface in any design decision. Osmose is not recommended for that reason alone.

Great idea. Sort of works on 10.2.8. Hope to see more support for Jag.

Hey !! Please watch your language... Have a little respect for the people who gave hours to build this software !!... i haven't used it, but if the only thing you have against it is the icon, i don't think a review is necessary. Also, I find your critic because it can't work on your system, quite rude !. Nice and constructive reviews would be much better !.
