StockXloader 4 is a native OS X application for fully automated downloading of stock market quotes and indexes from Yahoo! Finance to the technical analysis program ProTA or ProTA Gold from BeeSoft (http://beesoft.net), or to MS Excel or iWork Numbers, or you can drag-and-drop a file onto some other application.

Get historical quotes, or get "snapshots" of the latest price values for today (delayed intraday values). This way you can build your own database of ticker symbols containing historical quotes for the open/high/low/close of each day, plus current-day snapshots.
What's New
Version 4.1.1:
  • Fixed a small problem with the Sample Ticker List where the ticker symbol for "XAUUSD=X" was mapped to an empty symbol when snapshots were imported to ProTA.
  • Added a menu item to the File menu: Show Ticker Lists in Finder, which does the same as the corresponding menu item in the toolbar of the Download Controller under Extras.
  • Small changes in the File menu for clarity.
Requirements
  • Intel, 64-bit processor
  • OS X 10.6.8 or later

I upgraded from v3 to v4. I have been using the new version for a while and have been very happy with this software. It is easy to use. It is reliable. I follow more than few stocks and this program saves me a lot of time. It works great with ProTA which I also use. It is worth the price to me. I did not find it hard to figure out.

$80 US for this apparently amateurish attempt at a commercial application? Piffle.

The interface is confusing to the point of being unusable. Pressing the Download button elicits a message indicating that data was downloaded but, "of course," won't be able to be displayed. Why?

I'd skip this application if it only cost $4.99 US...it is certainly not worth $80 US.

Have just been notified today by email from the developer that v3.3.4 does not work under Mac OS X 10.5. No ETA on a compatible release at this stage.

I am disappointed that the developer has not taken the effort to sort out the problem before the commercial release of 10.5 nor provide an ETA on a fix.

I asked for StockXloader to do options it has been added now. There was a small problem when I up graded to OSX 10.4 and that is now fixed. Really great support. It is worth every nickel and more. I bought it and use it and recommend it. Now if ProTA would come out with an OSX version!

Stockxloader is for getting historical and present quotes quickly and easily in to ProTA. Quicken won't do that. ProTA does a lot more charting and other technical analysis that Quicken. I use ProTA and StockXloader together and am not aware of another program that will get Yahoo quotes in to ProTA as easily and quickly as StockXloader. StockXloader was worth it to me.Now if only ProTA would be released OSX native.

There are other cheaper programs that get quotes and do basic charting. Everything depends on a persons needs.

This program is fast at downloading and easy to set up. It does what it says and the developer is quick to respond to emails. Used with ProTA (a technical analysis program), you can do much more than with Quicken. I bought it and I like it. Saves me an awful lot of time.

While I am not a big fan of Quicken, I nevertheless find it interesting that automatically downloading stock quotes is one of its many features, including but not limited to maintaining your entire portfolio, yet Quicken retails for around $20 less than this product that only downloads quotes.

While I deem it highly probable that someone will reply to this message to point out that this program uses Yahoo for quotes and is a much more extensive, should I not have added this paragraph.

Then the obvious question then becomes: "What percent of the people needing to download quotes actually need this extended capability." I suspect the number is rather small and that the quote capability of Quicken will serve the majority of users rather nicely.

This way you can build your own database of ticker symbols containing historical quotes for the open/high/low/close of each day, plus current-day snapshots. You can get data for any stock exchange in the world that Yahoo! Finance carries quotes for.

StockXloader 4 keeps track of the last date you got quote values, and it does that individually for every ticker symbol, so the next time you download, it will fetch quotes starting after that date. So if a particular symbol lags, StockXloader will pick up where it was left last time. You can also see in your ticker list the last date, individually for each symbol. For snapshots, you can even see the last trading time for the given price data, displayed according to your local time zone and in your language's format.

Fully optimized for the new Retina Macs with high-resolution graphics and text. Compatible with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7 Lion and 10.6 Snow Leopard.

A full and completely uncrippled version of StockXloader 4 can be tried out for evaluation up to 60 days!

Security: StockXloader 4 is signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate, so the Gatekeeper in Mountain Lion will check this cryptographic signature and find that this software comes from an identified developer, and has not been modified on the way to you.
