FastTunes is a utility that helps you control iTunes. When you press the hotkey you choose, it will show the iTunes controls floating over your screen. You can use these controls just like you would use them in iTunes. When the track changes, FastTunes will show its name and rating and you can edit that rating by clicking, again just like in iTunes. You can also define hotkeys for actions such as play/pause, next song, volume down...
What's New
Version 1.2.3:
  • You can now change the color and opacity of the background and the color of the text of the information window.
  • FastTunes now accepts the function keys without a modifier as hotkeys.
  • Fixes a silent crash that would happen in some circumstances.
Requirements
PPC, Mac OS X 10.2 or later

I suggest you just try SizzlingKeys4iTunes
it already uses your keys to do all the things this will.

I need help because all I see with this program is the little pop-up window. No, prefs anywhere. I'm in OS 10.3.8

I first tried to right-click on the track information and nothing came up. Then I tried right-clicking on the little control panel that comes up after pressing control-option-command-i. That was the answer. Thanks and great little app.

I like FastTunes, but there are some options I would like to see.

I have a little app that lets me use F10 F11 and F12 as hot keys for next, previous, and play/pause. I can't get fastTunes to do this.

I couldn't figure out how to move the info that displays when the song starts and I would like to change the opacity of that display window as well.

I would also like to see the option of having FastTunes always visible instead of having to type buttons to get it to appear or disappearing after it has been used.

If these options are available, I apologize.

The readme says that control-option-command-i will popup commands but nothing happened. Just the little window when song change.
I have edited Info.plist and removed LSUIElement to see the menu and preferences (command-,) is disabled. Please explain me how to display controller or fix this. It's look very promising !!
Thanks

Upgrade (1.2.2) has every feature I was just going to request. Brilliant. Thanks for a perfect controller, and for offering it at no charge.

I'm not a fan of RealBasic programs as I find them especially bloated and slow. This program is no exception. A 1.3Meg app that sends AppleScripts, great. It "looks like Apple designed it" because the graphics are ripped right out of iTunes. I could just minimize the iTunes controller and get the same thing with no overhead.

Ripped off from the iTunes controller is much better than what some people design. The small iTunes controller doesn't allow for changing the song rating, which I feel is sorely missing from the original control panel, and FastTunes does it elegantly. Bloated? Upgrade your Performa.

Looks promising and could have been the helper I was looking for when transcribing songs. Unfortunately the rewind/fast forward buttons behave a bit strange and can hardly be used for anything else than skipping to the previous/next song.
I do hope this can be fixed in a future release as I really like the style of this app.
Another wish on my list: hotkeys for pause/resume and a separate set of hotkeys for rewind/fast forward and next/previous respectively.
I know it's easy asking for more, and the developer already is giving a lot for free. Many thanks to him. Keep on the good work!

Finally a nice iTunes controller that looks like Apple designed it, and has every feature I've been looking for. It's small, it gets out of your way, it's easy to access, I can change even the rating! Beautiful fades. Very well done. Free?! Unbelievable.

This program is useless, just click on the green button on iTunes and minimize it. It gives you the same options and even tells you what song is playing.

I know Synergy and it really is a great app (the track info certainly looks better), but my menubar is full enough as it is. There are actually already too many things in there, but I can't miss a single one of them. That's why Synergy isn't very useful for me.
