Brickles Pro overview

Brickles Pro is not a typical ball and paddle game. Brickles Pro features adjustable colors, adjustable ball and paddle sizes, stereo sounds, adjustable speed and window sizes, and more. Even the number of paddles in the game can be changed.

Brickles Pro is suitable for everyone from the very youngest children first learning to use a mouse, to fast-paced arcade fans, from grandparents to grandchildren.

Brickles Pro allows the user to chose from among various built-in Brickle array designs. Brickles Pro will then use the chosen design for every level of the game, if desired. A random mode may also be chosen to allow each level of the game to use a randomly selected Brickle design array. Brickles Pro thus includes many Brickles games in one.

Brickles Pro now supports the new Brickles Pro Online Hall of Fame Web page. Every time you get a new high score, you can send that high score to the Online Brickles Pro Hall of Fame Web page. Compare your score to the scores of your friends, schoolmates, family members, and others from around the world. Everyone is a winner. There are various Scoreboards associated with each of the many possible Brickles Pro configurations. Brickles Pro now even Tweets special High Scores!

It is not appearent at first play, but under preferences, the max ball speed can be reset back to the original game, and compared side by side to v1 the graphics have been updated slightly. I would suggest to Ken that the option for orginal speed be made part of the "speed" pulldown menu. And/or be the default. With this fix and a reduced price, or reduced price as part of a Space-Time package Id give it 4 stars.

This a trip back to the days of the Macintosh II. As such I enjoyed it. Yes the graphics and sound are dated, but that is part of its charm. Its features are fine for this type of game. The basic code is written for older (PPC) machines, on my mac pro only the slowest setting was playable, but it was enjoyable at that speed. I suggest Ken revisit the speed settings. I am glad Ken recoded it with X-code for snow leopard, and for that get my kudos. The game is stable and works. The game needs to be less expensive. Like $10 or less.

This looks like it's hardly changed since I played it on my LC back in '93. Apologies to the author if you're offended, but it wasn't worth $25 then, and it certainly isn't worth $25 now.

Another lost opportunity to take advantage of Quartz technology and make a truly great-looking breakout game. Oh well....

No thank you. $25 for this game. Someone must be kidding. It's ugly, had bad controls, bad sounds and expensive. There must be a lot of better Brickles games out there.

I commend any developer of games for the Mac platform, but this one desperately needs an update---it looks, feels, and plays like an early 1980s variation of Pong (if Pong had been in color). Graphics are ugly, ball/paddle movement is jerky and "skips" visually, and the price of $25 is about $23.50 more than this current version is worth. To the developer: All respect for supporting the Mac platform, but please, update this game to make it worthy of OS X's (and even OS 9's) abilities.
